The Ogun State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Asiwaju Yinka Mafe has debunked the claim that the Remo people are part of the Ijebus in the state.

Describing this as untrue, Mafe declared it was the Ijebus that orchestrated and popularized the claim, which was for selfish reasons’. The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, in a statement, lauded the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun for canvassing that Yewa people from Ogun West Senatorial District should produce the next governor of the state.

Mafe believed it would be unfair and amounted to gross injustice and marginalization, if anybody from the other two senatorial districts should prevent Yewa people from producing the state governor in 2019, noting that Ogun West remained the only senatorial district yet to rule the state since its inception in 1976.

If federal allocations were completely abolished, and Ogun state revenues were 100% raised from taxation, there would be zero tolerance for this idiotic "Egba/Ijebu/Yewa" turn-by-turn nonsense, at least among those who actually have to pay for the state's governance out of their own pockets. Restrict the right to vote to those who pay taxes, and I guarantee that voters will put performance ahead of origin any day of the week; nobody has time for sentimental rubbish about "our son" when it's their own money that's being handed over.
