How Nigerians Can Make Money From Youtube by olayanjuke: 1:40pm On Oct 22, 2017
This is my first topic on Nairaland and i want to discuss how we can help each other to make money on YouTube. I also want us to use this platform to help each other grow in views and subscriptions.

Lets start with an introduction to youtube (for those who dont know). Basically YouTube is a video sharing and live streaming platform by Google (Alphabet Inc for those that know). YouTube instantly became a hit (back to back) for google and a lot of companies started to see it as a means of reaching more people globally through advertising on the platform. As a result of this google decided to split the money it gets from companies with content creators (also known as Vlogers, Youtubers etc), i will talk about this briefly as well.

Youtube opened up an alternative source of income for millions of people across the world, below is a link to the highest paid youtubers as of 2016
http://www.businessinsider.com/youtube-stars-who-make-the-most-money-in-2016-2016-12?IR=T/#no-9-tie-colleen-ballinger-5-million-1

The list above shows that developed countries who have constant high-speed unlimited internet are the ones mostly benefiting, enjoying and
raking in all the cash. What if i tell you that there are Nigerians making as much as $3000 monthly and that you can be a part of them. Check out the link below
https://socialblade.com/youtube/top/country/ng
This analysis is by Social Blade, the website gives an estimated earning range based on the channels view count, subscribers etc.

Mark Angel and Emmanuella is no. 6 on that list and they are cashing out big time, Social Blade estimates that they earn a at least $4,000 each month

Now to serious business
The basic idea behind a youtube channel is the content you want people to see, grow your subscription base and get a lot of views so you can start cashing out. But what will you post on your channel?? The answer is anything you want from tutorials on how to cook or grow yam, to fashion tips, to tech reviews, to comedy skits, to tutorials on how to draw, to tips on how to buy and sell, to how to dance one corner or even a post on your version of one corner. You get the gist the list is endless. The trick to growing on Youtube is to stick to a niche(topic) or a range of topics for instance if you are doing tech reviews, you dont have to stick to just phones, you can add tablets, usb drives, PCs, TVs etc. But if you are doing Tech reviews and the next thing people see is how to grow yam properly some people may lose interest in the channel. There are ways around this which i will be discussing later.

What i am hearing next is what Nigerians always complain about. There isnt sufficient data, this is not true some of us are always on facebook, snapchat, twitter and instagram watching videos, uploading videos. Some of us are also on Youtube watching videos (which is not in anyway wrong) but we can also upload videos for people to watch all we have to do is reduce the time spent on these social platforms and save the data for our own growth.

EVERY GOOD THING IN LIFE TAKES TIME SO PLEASE DONT GET UPSET IF YOUR CHANNEL IS NOT GROWING AT THE SAME RATE AS OTHERS.

I have talked so much but permit me to add this final comment. The other reason for this post is that i want us to help each other to grow. If you start posting now with 0 subscibers you may not get even 50 views in 3 months. Trust me i have tried it. But imagine if you have 10,000 subscribers when you post to your channel you could end up with 30,000 in weeks. There are certain things involved like the "new"
post advantage and so on but i will discuss that at a later time as well.

If you know more than i do please share your expertise on the topic and we will all learn from you.

Thank you all for taking the time.

I forgot to add this, post your channel page link and we will all subscribe to it and if we are interested in your videos we will watch, share comment and like as we see fit. The idea is to help each other grow. Also post any questions you have on this page and i will try my best to answer them.

I created a channel that showcases videos on how to create, upload, grow, monetize youtube as well as software to use to edit, how to avoid copyright infringement and so many other tips.
