Ask the same of governors for local governments and see them raise hell on you.

What is killing this country is corruption and not its systemic structure.
What did you just write buddy? Haba!! Isn't the systemic structure that encourages the corruption you are complaining about?

Why is Buhari finding it hard to fight corruption if not for the systemic impediments..

Can you just think with the left side of your brain for once?

Even if they like, let them hold 100 meetings. Nigeria will never be restructured and power will never be devolved to the states. The core North have more than enough elected officials to make sure that never happens.

Sad truth

Everybody acknowledges that there's more corruption now than in the sixties when Nigeria operated fiscal federalism. The present structure encourages corruption and nepotism. We have to restructure!

My brother. Don't mind the looonatics.
We shall overcome.

How some supposedly learned people think the best system of govt is for the FG to share federal allocation between states every month beats me.

Corruption is truly killing us just as systemic structure. You would recall this particular structure was forced on the country by Northern military soldiers who thought it would work best for us.

The oil in the Delta is largely responsible for this. In a sane society, Northern states with no oil have no business with oil funds. A structural government devoid of hidden agenda, should be in place to allow each region grow at their own pace and a part contribution to the centre. That way, every state and region would take pride in what they have and face it diligently. Corruption came to full glare the moment oil surfaced in Nigeria.

Wrong. Should there be a boycott of Southern at the chambers, the North would be crippled and would the forced to listen to the voice of reason.

It has happened before and it could still happen.

If you hear this kind of headline and you dont realise that it has to do with a group interest, then that means you don't understand Nigerian politics.

after devolution of powers what next, would that stop the Governors from stealing.

the governors should clamour for total restructuring which would include change of this nonsense document called constitution. a new constitution which would frown against embezzlement and corruption, a new constitution which would make the Governors or President to be easily impeached when they fail to deliver, a new constitution that would include not only recalling of senators but governors and President, in case the docile state house of assembly or National assembly fail to impeach an erring president.

There is no way foward. You either accept Nigeria as it is presently constituted or fight for your independence but anyone who thinks the core North will agree to a restructured Nigeria is dreaming.

Is there a beacon of hope in Southern Nigeria to become an opposing force, a collective one against the degradation of the human person which is the current trend in Nigeria ?

The problem is not that the politicians are unaware of the ineffectiveness of the present system of things, they certainly know, but the seeming addiction of our Nigerian minds to war-time approach in our lifestyles has by default activated the flight-fight mechanism in nearly all the people of the country and that is why there are mental health issues in almost all homes of middle-class and lower-class. The surprising thing is ? People do not even know they have mental health issues, it is almost impossible for a mental health victim to know he/she has such issues. That is a natural amnesia.

I am personally thankful to Ambode, atleast his mind-pattern fits that of a person untouched by tribalism, nepotism, and mental degradation unlike all his colleagues in the whole country. I believe this is his idea. I believe he made the first call.

If all of Southern Nigerians unite, as much as the Northern Nigerians unite. These political thieves who loot our country would have been eliminated and North and South can part ways in peace or if that is a painful divorce, then we can begin to talk about how to live together 'on our resources, each of our abilities and capabilities and potentials', and pay a management commission to Abuja, who does nothing, owns nothing but controls all the States, Local Governments and their resources without contributing anything to the table. Abuja has contributed nothing to this country.

When we unite, our enemies will tremble.
