The French and Japanese Embassies in Nigeria and the Institut français du Nigéria, have concluded arrangements to organise the third edition of a film festival for both countries. The festival, slated for November 8th, 9th and 10th, would begin at 6.30p.m. on each night at the Institut français du Nigéria. This year, the festival would showcase French, Japanese and Nigerian animated films. A statement by the Press Attache at the French Embassy in Abuja, Damilola Ayodeji, disclosed that the official opening ceremony would take place at the Institut français du Nigeria on November 8th at 6pm. He said the audience would have the opportunity of listening to speeches of the guests of honour, including the Ambassador of Japan in Nigeria, Mr. Sadamotu Kusaoke, as well as the Ambassador of France in Nigeria, Denys Gauer and the Minister of Information and culture, Lai Mohammed. To highlight the richness of the Nigerian production, a short Nigerian animé would be screened to open the ceremony. The crush (2017), which was directed by Stephen Saima Iosun, (Jos animation studio), was awarded by the SVAFF-Silicon Valley African Film Festival. This short movie would be followed by the French film, April and the Extraordinary World, which was awarded the “Cristal Prize,” at the Annecy Animated film festival. The second night, November 9th, would be a Nigerian Movie Night, Short Nigerian movies would be selected by Nicademia, the official partner of this festival. The closing night will be a Japanese Night with the screening of My Neighbour Totoro, a movie by the well-known Japanese director, Hayao Miyazaki http://www.akelicious.com/2017/11/french-japanese-embassies-mark-film.html
