I told @agaugust not to brag of anything because when I take my i-pad and my i-phone before me. The information will start pouring in and I will start to counter his suddenly found happiness in the most horrific manner. The magic will soon transform the comfort into anger and everything will seem as if it came by surprise. I first proved him wrong with his weak artillery in the ordnance of 155mm/39 calibre which can only fire up to 27km. He does not even know that guns with the 39L calibre can never fire more than 30km with a BB. As if it was now the end of @agaugust playing games, he brought in a new subject of satellite as if he mastered how do the operate. Instead of him showing us Nigeria's military satellite, he keeps on painting useless satellites and market them as if they were spy satellites.

Key Points
It has been confirmed that South Africa will
acquire a military satellite, believed to be a
Russian Kondor-E with a SAR capability
There are indications South Africa will be able to
independently control the satellite
South African Secretary for Defence Sam Gulube
confirmed during testimony to the parliamentary
defence committee on 22 October that the project
to acquire a military satellite is continuing.
Gulube said the cost of the unidentified military
satellite had increased by ZAR213 million (USD19
million) due to foreign exchange issues, but that
it was "now on track". The South African National
Defence Force (SANDF) subsequently told
journalists that all details of the project were
classified.

Note that the cost was increased because SA will now control the satellite independently.

You guys are just fvcking liars in South Africa, the story puts 'back on track' in inverted commas meaning NOT CERTAIN, NOT WHAT IT SEEMS TO BE...

Fvcking Soweto liars, South African liar government official said the satellite was launched in 2014, but Janes saya no, it is delayed to 2015, if it ever gets launched.

mzilakazi:

Unfortunately the satellite has already been paid for in cash. Last month the secretary of defence admitted before the parliament that Kondor-E spy satellite was built for SANDF intelligence and that it was a secret project.

He told the parliament that it was to be launched this year. Many believe it has already been launched.

Your Soweto parliament is just deceiving itself, better call accounts auditors to go trace that money you said they paid, some stealing is going on in your corrupt ANC government.

Also says the Russians did NOT say South Africa is the buyer, so no proof it is South African sale, reason why Janes put the topic in inverted commas....'back on track'....NOT sure !

"Russia's Interfax-AVN news agency subsequently cited a source as saying the launch of the Kondor-E for an unidentified foreign customer had been delayed for at least several months due to "technical and organisational reasons". It reported in August that the launch had been postponed again to 2015 because Russia and Kazakhstan had failed to reach an agreement"

Nigeria does not have a radar satellite nor even to speak of military satellite.

Consequently, in a swift operation coordinated by Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, NIMASA’s Director of Shipping Development, the agency’s newly-built satellite surveillance system with cloud-penetrating radar capabilities was brought to bear and the incident was resolved within six hours.

The NIMASA team, working with the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Air Force, which used air and sea patrols, was said to have quickly put up a response and reception plan that forced the hijackers to abandon their mission and flee."

Your surveillance satellite will be far from being anything close to synthetic aperture radar satellite (SAR). It will just be yet another version of Chinese cloud penetrating radar spacecraft merely used to monitor actions of pirates.

The only thing that Nigeria can ever claim to be ahead of from SA is just the figures of GDP.

The new modern advanced satellites are those using SAR which Nigeria does not have and will not have in the near future. The system can penetrate everything including the ground to look for land mines, bunkers, etc.

NEWS AGENCY OF NIGERIA
May 18, 2012
Abuja

NigeriaSat-2,one of four Nigerian satellites(NigeriaSat-1,NigeriaSat-X and NIGCOMSAT-1R) in orbit.

Nigeria would launch a locally manufactured satellite and in 2025 develop rocket and propulsion system. “In 2026 we have allies in electronics and software involved in space technology, and in 2028 we would now launch a Nigeria made satellite.”

Ewa enumerated the achievements of the ministry to include the launch of two low earth observation satellites – NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X as well as a communication satellite-NigComSat-1R. He also said a rocketry was successfully launched on Wednesday in Epe, Lagos, while about 40 doctors and 60 masters degree holders had been trained in space technologies.

“100 personnel from the military who have been trained in space applications this year are now ready to be involved in surveillance satellite project.”

NigComSat-1R - communications broadcasting

NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X, which both launched in 2011 carrying similar instruments. These satellites were also made at SST, with Nigerian engineers helping to build the latter. In addition to a continued environmental mission, the satellites' high-resolution images of the country will help Nigeria review electoral boundaries ahead of its general elections in 2015.

Fool grin grin

The project was cancelled because.....

"However, around 2007, the South-African government froze Project Flute after the nation's officials had realized that the full control over the satellite and its data would remain in Russian hands and South Africa would depend entirely on NPO Mash for the spacecraft operation. Such an arrangement would likely result in a significant delay of the access to imagery by military users in South Africa after the pictures had been snapped in orbit.

In response to the closure of the project, NPO Mashinostroenia threatened with a legal action, probably demanding a compensation for already incurred expenses.
Moreover, the scandal around Kondor-E threatened to derail a planned launch of the South-African Sumbandila satellite on a Russian submarine-based missile. (The satellite was eventually launched by the Russian civilian space agency, Roskosmos). The situation also led to demands within the South African parliament to investigate the affair."

Eventually Russia took over the satellite, swallowed South Africa's money, and launched the Satellite for Russian use. Ripped off Mandela !

LOL grin grin

We see South Africans desperate to claim a satellite, because Nigeria has 3

Ground control in South Africa?

Possibly, in order to address the problem, NPO Mash planned to build a ground station in South Africa, which would control and operate the satellite, industry sources said. Russia would also train personnel manning the facility. The South African center would have an automated data exchange system with a mission control operated by NPO Mash at its campus in Reutov, near Moscow. NPO Mash planned to subcontract the responsibility for setting up and supporting a secure network to Moscow-based company ZAO KB SvetComputers. The company's team was to be secretly dispatched for a month-long assignment in South Africa to deploy the system. A secure satellite channel, fiber-optic lines and radio communications would be used to transfer information between Kondor's mission controls in Russia and in South Africa. The new arrangement might have jump-started the troubled project, but it also likely further escalated its cost.

According to various reports, between 2006 and 2014, the South-African Defense Intelligence channeled from $109 to $259 million through a secret Special Defense Account dedicated to the "development of a strategic information collection capability." It is unclear whether this sum funded any other projects besides Flute.

The opposition members of the South-African parliament were still demanding the investigation of the Flute project as late as 2014, as Kondor-E was finally approaching the launch pad. However the South-African government was resisting the release of most details on Kondor-E, citing its highly classified nature and national security concerns. Still, Pretoria made available annual financial statements from the Special Defense Account from 2010 to 2014, showing following expenditures\

Fake story with no proof. No source confirms the sale. You cannot buy satellites in secret and the whole world does not know.

The only existing story is that the sale was cancelled with good reason stated.

Russia won't sell a spy satellite secretly to South Africa without reporting the sale to UN as required by international law.

Okay, Nigeria has 100 secret nuclear missiles purchased from Russia in 2014. How about that?

Anyway, Russia has robbed South Africa of millions of dollars, President Putin is using the satellite he robbed you of, to fight Ukraine in Crimea grin grin
