Dude - I understand where you're coming from.

But at the same time, when defending yourself against someone who's physically stronger than yourself, you're likely to grab the nearest weapon, just to make the beatings stop. A well-built guy could break a slightly-built lady's neck with a single punch / slap. Would it be best for a lady to wait till all her teeth have been knocked out, before she defends herself?

If a man's a regular bully, he needs little or no provocation to physically abuse his wife / girlfriend. In maintaining a "level head" as you put it, you mean the lady should be more of a doormat than ever, to stoke the ego of a cowardly bully, who's thinly disguised as a man? Your words kind of suggest that abused women bring their abuse upon themselves, and deserve all they get!
