I stumbled across seun trend on the above topic which he created in 2005 https://www.nairaland.com/3022/how-much-good-salary-nigeria
As a sole proprietor, I entered business with the initial goal of making as much money as I would have gained if I was a University graduate earning a 'good salary'. Unfortunately, I have never been in the job market, so I have no idea what a good salary is!

So I need your help. What kind of salaries are graduates earning in various industries (banking, IT, consulting, et cetera)? What constitutes a 'good salary' in Nigeria, especially the Lagos area? I want to know so I can set a definite monthly income target. Thanks.

Its almost 12 years since he created this Topic, looking at the situation of things now....How Much is a Good Salary in Nigeria today?

I think anything from 150,000 Naira.

That is manageable as a guy without Kids and wife.

A good salary is really difficult to determine as this in mine own opinion will depend on individual understanding and economy

This has to do with your location in Nigeria. For Lagos N150, 000 is not bad to start with.

Lol, u speak as if Nigeria is a sane country.

To even get job of 50k is hard.
To me the acceptable Minimum should be 150k for a start, However salaries varies across boards due to the level of organization (how small or big it is) and what they are into.

The question is hw much is a good salary in Nigeria and assuming we take our economy and some oda factors into play then 150k is poor by all standards, including the Nigerian standard.

Funny, how much do you think Professors collect during previous economies and now presently. Your goodwill, optimism and wide expectation is good, but no pipe dream is as sure as this except Naira loses value horribly. If yu see 100k job as graduate, go do testimony. grin grin grin

Between 500 and 800k per month.
Because if we take it per hour.
Lets say 2000 naira per hour and someone puts in 12hours/ day....that's within the Range.

After all, UNITED STATES has 3900 Naira/ Hour as MINIMUM WAGE.....
that's the Lowest someone can earn there.
..including DISH washers, CHEF, Private Security Personnel.
Truly, NIGERIANS are soaked in Poverty.. cry cry
I learnt some TEACHERS are paid 18k/ month.
That's about 63 Naira / hour cry cry cry cry

I will not stop telling people to sell their properties and relocate.
U shouldn't experience HELL twice.

It's really a pity that some graduates today earn less than 40K a month...

This Nigeria eh...People spend so much money on education

I wonder how graduates in cities like Lagos and Abuja survive

I think it should be like 250k for someone who's married and 100k for singles
But how many companies can even pay such amount undecided

NIGERIA has serious problems..
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has to discipline the private sectors, because it enslaves graduates.
In Nigeria, Some establishments earn up to 30million weekly and pay front desk officer who is likely a graduate, 25k. cry cry.
And they expect you to dress like a Pilot or a SWAT agent to work.
NIGERIA suffers because it only CONSUMES.
....and we are not good consumers since we don't recycle.

U will never realise this till you penetrate Europe or America.
My GRAND MUM lives with us in Los Angeles.
She has never been a Liability.
At home, she teaches just IGBO LANGUAGE to Igbo kids and she makes up to 3000 USDollars/ month in total.
Kids have chased us from our apartment.
Parents drop them and zoom off

Well my dearr I don't think it worse in this country,I ve had opportunities to be and live in other countries and I believ nigeria remains the best for successful business or rather making money...

But the only reason pple travel out of this country is to have a better life outside that nigeria remains the best place to make good money and also live well..

Don't you believ the saying which say's ''if u can survive in nigeria, you can survive anywhere''

To learn trade? Owokowoko na now u tell me say u be igbogringrin
