International Radio Playwriting Competition 2018 Would you like to win £2,200 sterling, a trip to London and have your play broadcast across the world on BBC World Service? If so, the 2018 International Radio Playwriting Competition is now open to entries! There are three prizes to be won. Two first prizes – for the best radio plays by writers with either English as their first language or English as their second language. Both winners’ plays will be broadcast on BBC World Service. In addition, there’s the Georgi Markov prize - for the most promising script, this prize gives the winner a chance to come to London for two weeks and work alongside BBC Radio Drama and with BBC World Service journalists. Who can enter? Anyone aged 18 or over and living outside the UK – whether you’re an established writer, completely new or anywhere in between. Last year’s winners included a Canadian writer who had never written a play before and a Brazilian writer who’d never written for radio. Find out more about last year's winners here. To mark the launch of this year's competition, there's another chance to hear the prize-winning play in last year’s English as a Second Language category. The Day Dad Stole a Bus by Péricles Silveira is an imaginative and poignant play about a father, a daughter and a natural disaster, set in Péricles’ home country of Brazil. "Intriguing, touching and gripping" (Financial Times) Radio is a wonderful medium. Read our tips and think in sound! Your potential audience on BBC World Service is huge – 77 million people around the world. What story might they like to hear? What new world can you introduce them to? The competition is open to new and established writers, provided they live outside the UK and are 18 or over. In order to enter you need to send: • A script for a 53 minute radio play with up to 6 central characters - we are unable to return these, so make sure you keep a copy • A synopsis which outlines your play is no longer than 400 words • A completed entry form (here), attached to your play and synopsis. Now, it's difficult to piece together what is going to become of Zimbabwe after now, however history gives us a peek at the key actors in the drama currently playing out.

Now, this is the story you dont't know.

Mugabe the deposed President of Zimbabwe, Constantine Chiwenga the Head of the Zimbabwean Military and Mnangagwa the sacked Vice President of Zimbabwe are all friends, very good friends, they are comrades. The three men were in their 20's when they entered the bushes and took part in the liberation struggle to free Zimbabwe from white rule. Mugabe who was initially the Sect General of ZANU PF, became the head of state, the other two men were equally given plum positions of power and have continued as the 3 musketeers presiding over the destiny of Zimbabwe for 37 years.

Sometime in the 90's - Mugabe, the first musketeer fell in love with his personal secretary who happened to be another man's wife at the time, the lady's name was Grace and she became his mistress. While Mugabe was still married Grace had children for him. In 1996 they became man and wife after the death of Mugabe's first spouse.

But Grace was no ordinary mistress turned wife, she was not ready to take a backseat, she turned herself into Mugabe's political confidant, she used the bed and made her way to the very centre of Zimbabwean politics straining the relationship between Mugabe...
