That is a good warning To put the discos. On their toes However, the attitude of nigerians towards payment of electricity Bills especially those in the villages is not encouraging nd will continue to hinder the progress of. Discos 19 Likes 2 Shares |

Doesn't look good. The DISCOs should work out their own restructuring plans based on each ones business model. The less involvement of government in public utilities the better in the long run 4 Likes |

Please come and take over the Disco in Owerri. They are so notorious for their poor services. Imagine using keke napep to carry their ladder. The good old days of NEPA are sorely missed. At least they had qualified staff, these people have sacked all the experienced engineers they inherited. They hire people they can pay #30,000. EEDC is the terrible thing we remember Jonathan for, selling assets to a known crook. In the case of electricity meters, EEDC will be the last people to help you get anything. They prefer estimating your bill so they can continue to rip you off. Go and ask anyone living in Owerri. 18 Likes |

IBDC, BEDC, YEDC on mind. The whole thing needs a revisit, capacity review is necessary. Any Disco having more than 35% unmetered customer should undergo capacity review 5 Likes |

This is the more reason the DISCOs should meter their customers. Prepaid meter will solve that like magic. greatiyk4u: 2 Likes |

Every time DISCO dis, GENCO dat una no deg tire?? U blaming bill payment above, why have d DISCO's refused to do more to meter electricity users?? If dey provide prepaid meters for Nigerians , do U think most ppl will complain about d supply wen dey know their money is safe in d meter until light decides to com... Make govt stop to dey give excuses... 1 Like |

greatiyk4u: Not just those in the village. Even some educated people don't pay electricity bills. My house is a 4 flat residence here in Lagos with over average electricity supply. My neighbors do not pay bills but they can run gen overnight if there's no supply of electricity. We really need to change our attitude if we really want power. 6 Likes |

greatiyk4u:The Discos were well aware of the so called Nigerians attitude towards payment. They mist have taken it into consideration during feasibility studies and still realized they could make profit. That is aside the fact that they bought the discos at a ridiculous cheap price. I doubt this initiative could work, because the discos owners still wait for the government to do everything for them- Buy meters, bail them out, increase tarrif,.... 1 Like |

incemay:They don't pay because they know it's estimated billing. I mean I used to cough out N7000 monthly for them until I got tired and stopped before they installed meter for me. Now I can see my actual consumption is N1000 1 Like |

Most DISCOS are insolvent because most people refuse to pay their bills....and because the bills themselves are too low to make any profit. Even metering, the solution....is not feasible because some people bypass their meters. 3 Likes |
