"Universities Should Be For Males, While Polytechnic For Females" - Nigerian Guy by Priscy01(f): 3:01am On Nov 20, 2017
A Nigerian guy has asked in a controversial post why women should study courses like law, pharmacy and medicine, “the truth remains that female education ends in the kitchen”.

Identified as Cleo La Coll on Facebook, he shared the post on a public group, but it’s obvious he did it to get attention.

The original poster is Clifford Chima Odo, an undergraduate of University of Nigeria with very bad command of the English language, but he immediately deleted the post after people called him out. Cleo then proceeded to share the post.

In the post, he went on to say that only male applicants should be allowed into universities while females should study in college of education and polytechnics.

Here’s what he wrote:
"I cease to understand the main reason why some girls do study high courses like Law, Medicine, Pharmacy.. etc..

Why are you occupying spaces for innocent young boys like us who need those courses more than as you do?? I don’t know the reasons why they allow girls to study in universities..

University is for male while Polytechnics and College of Education is for females.. Or if you deem it too important you go for educational courses in University not those high courses. Even f you graduate from medicine or law you wouldn’t practice it…. The ugly truth remains that Female education ends in the kitchen.
Are you with me??

Nobody should argue with me, go and argue with your village people… I dey inside the brothel, come and beat me.."

Another mad little boy on the loose. His rant reeks of inferiority complex, serious personality disorder and he most definitely is a misogynist.

Ignorant admission seeker who didn't get admission, now he's bitter and thinks the females who did better than him are the cause of his problems

People with this kinda mentality still exist in 2017?
actually 2017 brings issues that didnt exist long ago.
what this guy is saying which he is failing to articulate is this:
The career path of an avarage woman is college, varsity, work for 3 or 4 years, then marriage, pregnancy and time taken off, then childbirth, then after childbirth she realises motherhood is such a joy and proceeds to resign...
isnt that a waste? imagine all the hours the company spent training her.now they have to replace her. imagine the loans and resources spent on her qualification at varsity.now that paper is going to decorate her wall.
imagine now one guy sitting at home who lost that varsity place to her.he could have made maximum use of the qualification for decades and benefited not only himself but his wife and family.
but as it is,that qualification is hanging on a wall in the new mother's home as she enjoys the joys of being a mother.
do u see the issue here?
this is even a talking point in the US. tell me if u want links to articles in respected US publications on this issue.
cheers.

There is no issue there. There are several working mothers.
Even the ones that are not working, you would see that difference in how they run things. I personally can tell the difference.

I've taught before, and I can always tell. From the way they state their grievances during PTA meetings, to their kids grooming and assignments. The difference is always there for those who passed through school and it also passed through them.

Being an educated housewife isn't a waste of resources. It's a choice and sacrifice. No one should bring up that using certificate as decoration talk to make these set of women feel less. Yet when they go to work and their kids as much as bruises a knee, same society would want to hang them. Their husbands cheat, it because they don't have his time...etc.

Education isn't all for working.
The process itself shapes an individual.
Women are not exceptions.

What will women do and please people?

I don't understand sad, have you not seen mothers retire form civil service after full careers? Have you not seen mothers run for public office with competitive portfolios? Have you not seen mothers become successful entrepreneurs? Or mothers become significant players in their professional bodies? There are multiple examples everywhere, so how come you haven't seen any? You have eyes, they are in your head. And even without university you can enlighten yourself on some of the realities of life. It's dangerous to be ignorant about this because some woman will find herself stunted to fit in with your erroneous perceptions. Please, bro, open your eyes. smiley

And as far as wasted degrees go, how may men in Nigeria put their degrees to judicious use? Is that a reason to deny them entry into the Uni?

ok nice response
but do u know that companies in the US are seeing that happen more and more that at interviews they started asking women: "Do u plan on having a baby?"
it caused such an outrage from Feminists that the practice was banned.(i can give a link to that story if u want). the feminists understandably come from a logical side of not wanting to see women disadvantaged. but noone cares to see where the companies come from.noone is prepared to understand their side. there are 2 sides to every story and even in court a criminal is allowed to state his case.but noone is prepared to listen.

A woman's degree is a waste because she decides to be a mother?
Misogynist.
The so called loans and resources spent on her qualification at varsity is meant to make her a better person, it's not all about the paper.
Once again, misogynist.

The lazy ass stupid boy in your silly example didn't lose his place to any woman because he never had a place to begin with., it would only have been his place if he had been able to meet the requirements. Which he didn't, so what's the problem?

What kind of victim mentality coupled with entitlement mentality along with misogyny and just plain foolishness is this?

Common sense seems to be rare these days.

Funny enough, if u even follow his point, most guys still end up not working with the degree they read/studied. Science and tech in banking, arts in techs, etc.

Education enlightens you. Sometimes it's feels like a waste, especially when after all the struggles and all.

Anyways, whether university, poly, or college of education, just get that knowledge sha, anyone can studied anywhere biko

Both set of women are contributing to the society!
I wonder why he thinks mine is emotional and his is logical. He clearly agreed the certificate is a waste in the longrun, which I objected to. Educated housewives contribute to their homes and society at large, albeit not financially.

Women are the ones most times faced with this challenge of giving up one for the other, but they didn't have this child alone. Some are not totally happy with the decision, they just have to give up the formative years for their kids. Some working mums also wish they can have all the time for their kids, but the economy isn't helping. Both set of women don't have it easy.

I understand where the companies are coming from. If I ran an organization, I'd want to know how available & predictable a resource was to me, so that I can decide on how much to invest in it and how to deploy it. It would enable me plan, consciously, when to include maternity leave and how to deploy back-up. It's good risk management. So, from the company's point of view, it should be a valid question.

From a feminist point of view, I understand why it would seem presumptuous to think only women deserve to be asked the question: Do you plan on having a baby? Fathers also take paternity leave. One month against the three for women, (with more pressure men can actually get the same time as women) but the point is, it also qualifies as down-time. Fathers should be as involved in the home as mothers if children need parents of both genders. What this does, eventually, is make the workplace more responsive to family life. And ultimately, it's better for the collective community. I'm sure that there are studies that would reveal that an absentee father has adverse effects on the development of children. We should not compromise with the young ones.

thats the point i am also driving to.Women plays a larger role in the society, also the men.Education for women should not only be 'reduce' to kitchen, but rather be seen as a sacrisfy made by them to stabilize the society which is the most paramount gain(wholistic) than individual gain.

Lol. I get the most part of your post and it's pretty applicable to anywhere but Nigeria. What you wanna do with the acquired cert? Get a job of 20k or what?? Nigeria ain't a place to read and expect a job waiting for you after rigorous study nights.

It's both ways to both folks..... Certs are pretty useless except with some acquired knowledge so I see no reason why folks should be fighting and arguing on who goes to acquire a useless thing or who doesn't.

It's more like saying.... All males should be given an opportunity to read what won't guaranty your success. His writeup is completely baseless and holds no water smiley
