The surgeon had no business in this. The patient was paralysed, including facial muscles. She couldnt even wince. The most that can probably happen is for some tears to fall off her eyes, but you even see that in patients who have been put under anesthesia.
She was trapped in her own body, couldn't lift a finger.

first of all a nurse, never stays at the head region but an anaesthetist. Remember that anaesthesia is a drug to numb pain and fake drugs can be made by our aba boys.

Secondly, just like everyone reacts differently to every drug, the same happens in anaesthesia. The drug wore off faster than expected in the op's case. And since she was educated, she didnt blame the surgeon or anaesthetist because it is not their fault. Me I don't know. She just told us she woke up and was crying. She said they(medical staff attending to her) knew that she was feeling it (pain); and they told her she had to endure that they could not give her more medication. I did not probe further the story tire me. We just happy say she survived. Although she said the pain would last in her memory forever.

Infact, the fact that you were given muscle relaxants already shows that you are intubated
Besides muscle relaxants wear off within minutes and which needs to be top up as the case may be.
Finally, the fact that you are feeling pain will bring about some changes in your physiology which we reflect on the monitor... Also, there is high tendency of tearing if you were actually feeling pain

why do you think most won't get employed abroad? because they lack passion and compassion that you need to be a doctor,most doctors and nurses got into the profession because of prestige and family pressure,what do you expect from people like that

I give praise to God almighty! Had my operation on appendix 2011 and I was awake d Doc was like pls stop taking alcohol dat is d reason why d anathesia did not make you to sleep and you feeling d pain, after all dat I stopped drinking fast forward to 2014 when I had my 1st baby guess what " CS " things was awake also b4 d CS I was asked to fill a form which I did, in d form series of questions like when u said what do you like to listen to and all sort I said music, alltru my CS I sang all the music they played In the theatre, I knew when they where bringing my baby out I said it " it paining me ooo" d next thing I heard was madam so you awake I said yes, next d nurse dere brought my baby and was asking me madam what do u have here while my child was upside down I said it's a boy all dis while doctors were doing g d stiches d nurse left with my baby after d stiches d surgeon now pray nd thank almighty for successful operation nd I said Amen
They took me to an observation room in the theatre, immediately they took me dere I was like water is dripping down to my chest they said madam nothing like water na the injection they work I said no I was now shouting deg sent someone to check me truly water was dripping down the chief surgeon now said no need to keep this madam here call the post natal and tell them we are bringing someone so they shld create place where I will stay with my baby, I told them no need my bed in post natal is bed 3 they where like madam you are so strong b4 they say anything d nurse in post natal now called nd said wat d woman name they told d nurse and she said she already have a place here just bring her, they took me to post natal and asked me where is my husband nd they need 4 other guys to hlp so they can lift me to my bed from d theatre bed after dat dey said madam put your son to breast I laid while I breast feed him. Lagos state general hospitals doesn't have many anaesthetists who are consultants. They train their staff to carry out anaesthesia and they are qualified for it.
Their anesthetic nurse specialists take calls alone even at night.
They are not technicians. They prepare their medications, and give it themselves. They intubate their patients successfully. They monitor their patients under anaesthesia. They are trained for the job.

A beautiful young Nigerian doctor has recounted the horrific moment she woke up during her surgery.

According to her she had gone under the knife after feeling a sharp pain in her lower abdomen, but due to anesthetic failure, she woke up during surgery.



“it all happened like a flash… I was at the salon wt my friend Edikan when i noticed a sharp pain in my right lower abdomen. I just brushed it off… I mean we were preparing to jet out the next morning.. So we finished and went to see a movie, now by the time we finished i literally couldn’t walk anymore.. The doctor in us kicked in… And i paused and quickly examined myself and elicited the signs to diagnose acute appendicitis and they were all positive.. So we go do a scan and it was true… Went to see a surgeon to clear me to fly the next morning and he examines me and says “if u as much as go a lil feet in d air, the pressure will cause rupture.. U need a surgery tomorrow..


Now this was already 8pm on sunday. I called my Dad and explained and called my bestie and immediately she got ready to fly down to were i was the nxt morning. NOW TO THE SCARY PART; “MY AWARENESS UNDER ANESTHESIA” SO I AM TAKEN TO THE THEATRE, PREPPED FOR SURGERY AND INJECTED THE ANESTHETICS AND MUSCLE RELAXANT AND THEN MASKED AND BAGGED AND BRIEFLY I WAS OFF AND AFTER A WHILE I REALISED I WAS CONSCIOUS BUT BECAUSE OF THE MUSCLE RELAXANT I COULDNT MOVE.. SO I JUST ASSUMED THE SURGERY WAS OVER… THEN I FEEL THEM DRAPE ME AND THE NEXT THING I HEAR THE SURGEON SAY.. OKK SO WE ARE ABOUT TO START…. I AM LIKE WT!!!! WHAT DO U MEAN..
THE NEXT THING HE MAKES THE FIRST CUT THEY PULL.. AND I COULD FEEL EVERY SINGLE THING.. I TRIED TO MOVE SOMETHING BUT COULDNT… I TRIED… GOSH.. I STARTED PRAYING.. I WAS LIKE JESUS HELP ME! HELP ME! THIS PAIN IS TOO MUCH! PLS HELPPPPPP!! AND WHILE I TOT OKK ITS A LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY.. THERE WONT BE MORE CUTS… THE SURGEON SAYS OMG! SHE HAS MULTIPLE ADHESIONS.. WE HSVE TO DO AN OPEN SURGERY.. Same thing happened to me during a colonoscopy/Endoscopy procedure.I remember fighting & them holding me down but I couldn't talk.I even remember the gastroenterologist calling my name, but I couldn't respond.The pain is stamped in my brain till today, seven years later.Horrible experience.

Are you through with trying to sound intelligent. I am humble enough to say i know nothing. I cant just come and spew trash about something i know nothing about, that is where the whole lot of you get it wrong. My patients dont need to be pitied, cos they are doing fine

Stop commenting on what you don't know about. You are just exposing yourself in full glory of your ignorance. Anaesthetic awareness is a thing, and if the patient does not complain or react to pain, there is a chance of it being missed.
Those 'olodo' doctors in all likelihood scored better than you at all exams since primary school certificate. They were most likely better than you academically in primary school, secondary school and university.

Look at who is talking. 7+x years is enough time to be good in what you are doing. Well, I know my onions.... and I know what I'm saying. Pre-operative procedures must be strictly adhered to to have a really successful surgery. Pls stop justifying quackery.

isnt it nice when they use the hippocratic oath to blackmail us, believing that we will work for free with smiles on our faces. Please google that oath in question. It does not cover all these. We doctors have our rights too, e.g the right to refuse to give treatment to a patient. It also doesnt mean we are allowed to be treated disrespectfully by our patients which happens all the time
