AMAZING FACTS YOU DO NOT KNOW (23)
What does it take to join the Secret Service?
So you want to protect POTUS?
So you wanna join the suit & sunglasses gang?
You really want to lay your hands on the $40,000( Forty Thousand Dollars)(14.4 Million Naira) salary?
You indeed want to fit into the family of the most feared & respected security agency of the most powerful nation in the world, the United States of America?
Come along...
On today's "AMAZING FACTS YOU DO NOT KNOW" we are looking at What is takes to walk side by side the President Of The United States of America .
First of all you most meet this conditions:
1. 20/60 uncorrected vision.
2. Must be between 21-37 years old.
3. Must have a degree or a 3 year Law enforcement experience.
4. Be prepared for 30 weeks of mentally & physically demanding training.
1. Essay of your Life.
You will be required to fill an application form that has over 35 pages. This form is designed to frustrate you, test your eyes, fingers, mind, intellect, and will power. After this is done, you wanna go home and run your lover and say
"Baby I got the job ".
Oops, wait for it...
2. THE ROUND TABLE;
You will be called for an interview & this is where your HELL has just begun, especially if you will be in the protective section of the Secret Service. These annoying people who will interview you are not looking for reasons to hire you, but instead are looking for every pinch of reason to send you back home with a pizza box for your family and it's so hard because...
guess what?
In the year 2015, 16,000 (Sixteen thousand) people applied both online & manually to get recruited into the SS.
Oya guess again!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Only 200 people were hired, some of whom died or gave up during the training anyways.
3. PAIN
How much pain can you withstand?
Do you shrink your ass' muscle when about to take an injection?
Do you cry or dust it when you were flogged when little?
Your eyes gets flooded when slapped?
Do you fall into any of the above?
Sorry, the SS isn't for you.
Move along!
Go sell roasted corn or mop bar beach.
You will be required to go through training processes that are designed TO KILL YOU.
Lemme give you 3 of them.
(a) Freeze test.
In 2003, men and women required to join the SS were taking to an open ground during winter, wearing what?
Swimming pants alone.
The trainer told the 11 of them that he only needed 4 of them and that he would return in 4 hours time.
None of them gave up!
Do you still hate reaching too deep into the deep freezer at home to reach your food? Secret service ain't for you, because while the President is doing "Netflix & chill" with his wife or mistress in the warm beds of the White House, you have to stand guard outside, in the rain all night.
(b) Drown-proof test
This is kinda easier to read, but not to experience. Here you are wearing a short or swimming pant and your hands are tied behind you, your legs are tied to a concrete block and you are required to loosen yourself and rescue the drowning President (represented with a human size doll) within 60 seconds.
(See commentaries for image)
It took you 61 seconds?
Sorry, I bet you can secure a finer job doing pedicure for a lion instead.
(c) Big boys don't cry.
Injuries such as fracture, dislocation, muscle tear etc can ruin your chance of joining the Secret Service. Many recruits have actually confessed to have concealed extreme injuries sustained during training in other to get the job.
Can you?
4. "We disowned Daddy"
If you are going to be in the Secret Service, especially the protection section of it, you must be ready to disappoint people. Your family. You are going to be on guard all night in the rain or snow protecting the President, in the morning you are on a 4 hour flight to pick a VIP over for the President. While doing this, your miss your daughter's birthday, your anniversary, sister's wedding and your son's baseball game.
Sorry.
5. Goons mi!
Some President can be very temperamental. Take someone like Franklin D. Roosevelt for example. He hated people seeing him looking helpless and vulnerable, so he once had his Agents chase down, nab and destroy the camera of a pressman who took a picture of him on his wheelchair.
Yeah, the President doesn't like that, so you gotta be a thug atimes.
6. Embarrassing
Gerald Ford for example is known to have allegedly embarrass his agents. Once he wanna gonna take a pee and didn't want it splashing back on his shoes, he just decided to pee on the trouser of the nearest standing agent. Again, he could fart in the room and accuse the nearest standing against of doing do.
Sorry, just overlook it, it's part of the job. .
So, do you think know you can get through all it takes to be Secret Service?
Think again.
If you enjoyed this one, let me have my 10 comments down below because...
Donald Trump is not the most protected person in the world, neither is his girlfriend, Queen Elizabeth,
Vladimir Putin isn't, nor is the Almighty Kim Jo of North Korea.
So, who is the MOST PROTECTED person in the world?
You will find out in coming episodes!

Do you watch Hollywood well enough?
Have you seen "White House Down" or "Olympus has fallen" or "London has Fallen"?
Okay maybe you are watching the latest 2017 series "Designated Survivor"?
These are movies that depicts activities in the White House and most especially the US President and most importantly some tough boys & girls known as THE SECRET SERVICE.
For those of you living in the US who have gotten a chance to see Barack Hussein Obama or Donald Junior Trump have you ever noticed some intimidating, rigid and stern looking men and women in black suits & overalls around the President?
Yeah, these people are the talk of our today's "AMAZING FACTS YOU DO NOT KNOW".
They are the United States Secret Service and their major duty isn't actually to protect the President, there is lot more that you will read below.
They do a whole lot from monitoring financial activities like the EFCC of Nigeria, to protecting the president, the Vice President & their immediate families, to monitoring the chefs that makes their(President & Co) meals, to actually dying for them.
The job of the secret service is so terrify that one of them actually stands pretty close to the President and ALWAYS holds a gas mask under his overall suit. No, not to protect himself from gas attack but in case of such he is to wear it for the president & he himself dies from the air poisoning. Yes, he better dies from it than the President.
Are those Sunglasses?
No, there is absolutely no room for fashion in the Secret Service although they can look super cool in their suits & all. Those glasses aren't fashionable ones, they are actually video camera glasses that sends live videos of their location back to the White House where every face in the crowd is scanned just in case there is a potential threat.
They communicate with sophisticated gadgets as well, you can see white curly cables about their ears as dissemination aids and you can always see them lifting there sleeves to their mouths.
The President is mostly referred to as "Phoenix". So if he steps out of his oval office the next Agent seeing him communicates to the rest like....
"Phoenix on his way up the Hallway".
They are ALWAYS watching him, he can't even go into the elevator without one of them with him. The ONLY place they DON'T go into with him is into the oval office & I will tell you this in the commentaries .
These guys are interesting & fascinating.
Here you go...
=Abraham Lincoln created the agency the day he was assassinated.
The 16th president of the U.S. created the Secret Service on April 14, 1865. Too bad John Wilkes Booth shot the president while attending the theater later that day.
=However, the original mission of the Secret Service was not to protect the president.
The agency was created as a division of the Treasury Department. Its mission? To crack down on the proliferation of counterfeit currency, an epidemic that threatened to destroy the American economy.
=Only after attacks on the president happened did the agents' duties expand.
Following the 1901 assassination of President William McKinley, Secret Service agents began watching over presidents full time. After Sirhan Sirhan shot and killed presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy in 1968, agents took on the job of protecting presidential and vice-presidential candidates as well. In fact, the Service offered Barack Obama protection a year and a half before election day, the earliest of any candidate in history.
=Only one member of the Secret Service has died protecting the President.
Just one?
Since all these years? This shows you how highly trained these guys are.
On November 1st, 1950, two Puerto Rican nationalists stormed the house that President Harry Truman was living in while the White House underwent renovations. In their attempt to assassinate Truman, they shot Private Leslie Coffelt, a member of the Secret Service, three times. Before he died from his injuries, Coffelt returned fire, shooting one would-be assassin in the head.
=They've never had a traitor in the Secret Service.
Although the FBI, CIA, and NSA have all been infiltrated by foreign spies, the Secret Service has never discovered a spy or traitor in its ranks.
=Agents are more than bodyguards.
In addition to tracking nearly 1,500 presidential death threats per year, the Secret Service also investigates credit fraud, financial crimes, identity theft, counterfeiting, and computer fraud.
-They use quirky code names.
The United States Secret Service uses code names for U.S. presidents, first ladies, and other prominent people and places. John and Jackie Kennedy were known as "Lancer" and "Lace"; Ronald and Nancy Reagan went by "Rawhide" and "Rainbow." Agents call the Pentagon "Calico," and refer to The White House as "Castle." The Presidents son in "Olympus has fallen" was referred to as "Spark plug"
These code names are used for classified persons and under the security detail of the President. Himself, His Wife, Kids and those of the Vice President. This is to prevent linking to the real persons in case of communication compromise.
=The Secret Service has over 6,500 employees.
About 3,200 agents work in 150 offices in the U.S. and abroad, and around 1,300 of those agents are members of the Uniformed Division, responsible for offering protection to the White House.
= Wing men
More than body guards you say. Well, for someone like John F Kennedy who had a mistress , the Secret service were forced to come up with a code name for her. She was called "Contractor". So whenever the first lady was returning from a trip back to the white House, they tell the President
"Sir, begin to round up negotiations with Contractor, FLOTUS(First Lady of the United States) on her way up Sir".
You would ask "How do you know Ifelola?"
Well, because a retired agent confessed that.
If POTUS( President Of The United States) wants Pizza, an agent actually does the ordering, he goes into the shop and orders it, looking like a normal customer & not in his intimidating looks and disappears mysteriously to the White villa. Everything is monitored, even his food and clothes. So poisoning is the last thing that will kill POTUS.
So that is it for this morning.
Any questions?
On the next episode, I will be telling us what it takes to join the secret service. But that is if I get 10 comments that wants me to make the post. Else, I just hold up my pen.
So if you enjoyed this one. Say something in the commentaries, if you learnt anything

I would have to say it would be the Pope.
Here’s an article about it: The Pope Has A Small But Deadly Army Of Elite Warriors Protecting Him
Here are some stand out statements in the article:
“Nearly 150 of the 189 guards serving at the time gave their lives to see that the Pope survived.” - This was back on May 6, 1527 during a ransacking of Rome.
Everyone who applies to be apart of this elite force is ex Swiss military, another requirement is owning a degree and being single to name a few.
“In addition to the Swiss Guard, Vatican City has its own police, known as the Gendarmerie Corps of Vatican City State.”
So he not only has his own dedicated force of protectors, but also the entire Vatican city protecting him.
Even though our President has a very elite force of guards, that’s pretty much his only defense. While those protecting the president have to take a bullet for him, I don’t think a random citizen would if given the opportunity. Meanwhile I believe anyone living in the Vatican city would given their devotion.
So not only does he have 1 main security detail protecting him, but also the police of Vatican city, and potentially the city itself.
But the US president is definitely a close second.
