Oyiboman69: Did you really read the story? If you do, you won't ask this question coz the story has the answer. Watching porn with the facility meant to aid their work is corruption and it's irresponsible in a formal setting. The VC also said using government time to do what they're not paid for is also corruption. That is how they misplaced students scripts and other vital documents. No concentration. Maybe they watch movies on youtube instead of using it for educational purpose. That doesn't still justifies his decision to block access to youtube. There's something about ICT he doesn't understand. He needs professional advice. 1 Like |

If you guys can read well he is talking generally about facilities that should have been used for work related issues are now used for things which lead to lack of concentration at work. People are watching or downloading porn with the school internet facility which is one complaint. Another complaint was about banning youtube which would mean the staffs are using it to watch music, movies and other funny videos but not what is related to their work. There is television in some open areas which he wants to ban also and that could mean people are leaving their work seats all the time to go watch television instead of working. So please lets read and understand a writeup before criticizing. |

This Unizik VC I'm sorry to say, is a disgrace to academia. YouTube is one of the foremost repositories of knowledge. It contains a vast library of Audio Visuals for just about every topic from virtually every discipline. From what he just said, I'm sorry but he has no case and can easily be accused of victimisation. There are various ways of restricting sites that can be accessed on a network. This VC is too archaic in my opinion. Shame. |

I don't think the lecturers are the ones downloading the porn, what if students have access to labs and the WiFi password? Coming at the lecturers is a crazy move, we all know what students know how to do best. |
