Only smart cars will survive as roads are getting connected. They will have to rely heavily on their brainpower to function; Ford CEO Jim Hackett opined.

Imagine a world where cars, roads and traffic lights will all be talking to each other. You certainly can't have a push to start jalopy in such a world.  

According to Autonews, Hackett is pioneering Ford’s move to connected, electric and autonomous cars. 

"Ford's future is not about giving up the car," said Hackett at the Michigan CEO Summit in Detroit. He then added that there are "no dumb cars in the future."

"We have to evolve these things to be ever smarter," added Hackett, mentioning how cars in the future will be able to see things that humans can't.

"For a while, we didn't see the computer as an integrated aspect. Now, think about it, my vehicle is a rolling computer." Hackett adds.

Lol. It will be very long before dumb cars leave naija. We can't even afford the new dumb ones it's the smart one we want to buy.

Even electric cars would fail here for now, would I buy fuel to charge a car?

Dumb as used here means the car only does what you make it do..as opposed to a smart car that can detect a car is on other lane or that the road ahead is clear and therefore increases speed (Auto drive Toyotas do this).
Just as we have smart homes where everything is fully automated!

With all the pot holes that litter Nigeria roads, expect the smart cars to become dumb and dumber on the road!

It’s not wishful thinking. Smart driverless cars have already been produced and for about the past 5 years they are been tested on road, and have successfully covered over 1 million miles without any accident. Oyinbos are not like black people that fool around. When they say they’ll do something, they mean it.
