@OkayNigeria

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday received 150 Nigerians who voluntarily returned from Libya at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

They were brought back on their expression of interest to return to Nigeria through the assistance of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the European Union.

The Boeing B737-800 aircraft with registration number: 6A-DMG, landed at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 9.15p.m.

They comprised 13 female adults and one teenage girl while the male adults were 133, two teenage boys and one baby boy.

The returnees were received by the South-west Zonal coordinator of NEMA, Alhaji Suleiman Yakubu .

Also on ground to welcome the returnees back home were officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the police.

President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered for the evacuation of Nigerians from Libya following reports that they were being sold as slaves in the country for about $400.

It was gathered that the federal government would in the next few weeks intensify efforts towards bringing them back while the ongoing repatriation by the IOM and the EU is expected to also continue.

I wonder why fed govt is even bothered when every rat, dog and pig who can't be useful to his or herself calls the same Nigeria poo and the only plan is to go to the already developed countries as if the citizens of those developed countries woke up one morning to see such development without efforts. Abeg, make una comot sharp sharp so that we wey remain go find solutions to whatsoever problem we have. Nansense. The citizens of those countries have sense, for your info. undecided

Welcome back, the question remains. What will we do with them now that they are back? I know they will go back into the streets and then find another way to return to the Mediterranian.

Ever since the wide break of ds nefarious news, we haven't heard Libya govt's position on it. Are they not part of African Union? Feels like Africa as a whole is in d dark about activities in Africa.
African Union is weak, Ecowas weak, unlike their foreign counterpart. Where others are looking to add more values to humanity n hence more income, we r greedily looking to increase humanity's problems to earn income.
An average African trusts his life with a white than co Africans. Yet we say we want to be delivered from them. Blacks hatred towards eachother will lead them to depletion. Guess what the foreigners don't care. They will manufacture weapons n sell to Yall to kill yaselves. Tribalism war is a war we cant win. Keep blaming hausas, Igbos n yorubas for ur lack of success. U can't sow hatred n reap joy. Impossicant

Libya at the moment has 2-3 people claiming govt over diff regions. One recognised by the west and d others not. So plz which one of them should give their position?.

Was their positions asked when able bodied grown up men decided to save money to pass thru d desert and sea to reach Europe knowing they will pass thru a war torn country with no central govt?

I don't feel one ounce of pity for these people walahi cus d money dey use in traveling can start a bizness in Nigeria that will generate enuf to travel legally
