The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has on Thursday, launched the world’s biggest fertilizer plant in Rivers State.

The fertilizer plant, built by Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited has the production capacity of 1.5million metric tonnes of Urea fertilizer and is considered the world’s largest single-train urea plant.

The plant which was reportedly built with $1.5b also has a production capacity of 4000 metric tonnes of Nitrogenous fertilizer per day.

According to the the Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on media and publicity, Mr Laolu Akande , fertilizer from the plant will be made available to farmers nationwide at an affordable cost.

Akande further added that launching the plant will boost crop yield for farmers and help in minimising food grain deficit in Nigeria.
