The rate of Unemployment in Nigeria has risen quite a percentage higher.

New data published by Nigeria's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) pegs the unemployment rate at 14.2% in the last quarter of 2016, up from 13.9% in the preceding quarter. It's the ninth consecutive quarter that the unemployment rate in Nigeria has increased.

With all these it can only mean one thing.. BAD Governance!!! Yeah right!!

This is one statement we have been hearing ever since we were young.. We always put the blame on the government.. but forgetting we also have a 75 percent role to play in the way our life goes.

here is a story of a young girl in Canada:

Evelyn Morett was in high school and scouring online job sites in search of part-time work - without success - back in 2011.

Frustrated, she questioned why there wasn't a job search website targeted to teens and students.

It was that experience that led her to develop a website aimed specifically at a youths in search of work. Morett took a year off after graduating high school to launch teenwork.ca, an online base of job listings for young people in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and a resource for youth needing help with their job searches.

"I found it quite inefficient and time consuming. It was hard to find a job," said Morett, of her traditional search at the time. "Many other students were expressing to me the same difficulties."

Since launching the website in January 2012, when she was 18, the response has been terrific and Morett now plans to take the site national.


The website has more than 3,000 job listings. It's a free service for job seekers. For employers, the costs for employers ranges from $50 for single 30-day listings to $500 for up to 12 months.

Interest in the site has grown in light of the labour picture among the younger generation.

While Alberta had the lowest unemployment rate in the country last month at 4.5 per cent, the rate for people aged 15 to 24 jumps to 8.9 per cent - 10.1 per cent for males and 7.6 per cent for females.

"Youth unemployment in Alberta is nearly twice as high as it is for the overall labour force. Much of that has to do with their lower levels of experience," said Todd Hirsch, senior economist with ATB Financial.

"It's quite normal to see young people struggling a bit to find work - even in booming economic times. It is the classic catch-22 situation: Without experience, they have trouble landing a job, and without landing a job, they have trouble gaining experience."

Eveyln's mother, Louise, administrates the website. Most job listings now are from Saskatoon - where Morett launched the site - and Edmonton. The goal now is to build a following in Calgary and Regina.

"It just makes it a lot easier for young people to find jobs that are targeted to them and for employers it makes it a lot easier for them because their ads are targeted to the potential employees," said Louise.

She said the website wants to solidify its presence in Saskatchewan and Alberta because that's where the economy is strong right now and where employers are starting to have a hard time to find employees.

The plan is then to expand to British Columbia and then in the eastern part of the country.
