Aalto University has many areas of study that combines Science and Art as well as Technology and Business. Aalto University has six schools with close to 20,000 students and 4000 employees, and 386 of these employees are Professors. There is a wide variety of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees awarded at Aalto University, including doctoral programs in all the fields of study.

Aalto University was founded in 2010 as Helsinki University of Technology (after the merging of Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design Helsinki). The main campus is located in Otaniemi in Espoo, Finland. The other campuses are in Töölö and Arabia in Helsinki.

Aalto University is also actively dedicated to high level of research and education with the aim of promoting well-being and quality of life, as well as solving existing human problems. This fact is seen in The Aalto Factories as a ready example of a new and open approach to innovation.

Aalto University is also engaged in collaborative research projects with some of the leading Finnish and foreign research institutes and businesses. These projects enable companies to have access to the latest scientific information. The University also gives companies the opportunity to network with other universities and research institutes.

The university is named in honor of Alvar Aalto, a prominent Finnish architect, designer and

alumnus of the former Helsinki University of Technology, who was also instrumental in designing a large part of the university's main campus in Otaniemi.
SCHOOLS:

The university is organized since the beginning of 2011 into six schools formed out of the three merged universities. Each school has several departments and separate laboratories as well as a number of separate research and other units:

1)School of Arts, Design and Architecture (Aalto ARTS)

2)School of Chemical Technology (Aalto CHEM)

3)School of Business (Aalto BIZ)

4)School of Electrical Engineering (Aalto ELEC)

5)School of Engineering (Aalto ENG)

6)School of Science (Aalto SCI)

CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE:

Centers of Excellence

Aalto University also prides itself as it engages in seven (7) Centers of Excellence. Currently, the following units are designated Centers of Excellence:

1)Centre of Excellence in Computational Nanoscience.

2)Centre of Excellence in Computational Inference.

3)Centre of Excellence in Laser Scanning Research.

4)Centre of Excellence in Low Temperature Quantum Phenomena and Devices.

5)Centre of Excellence in Molecular Engineering of Biosynthetic Hybrid Materials.

6)Centre of Excellence in Molecular Systems Immunology and Physiology, together with University of Helsinki and University of Turku.

7)Centre of Excellence in Research on Solar Long-Term Variability and Effects, together with University of Oulu and Finnish Meteorological Institute Network Memberships.

ADMISSIONS:

Aalto University offers admissions in Bachelor's degree, Masters and Doctorate degree programs.
Bachelor's Degree Programs:

-Access and Register on the online application platform, fill in the application and send it.

-Submit all the required documents by the given deadline.

- Check the admission results and see if you have been accepted.

-When you receive the letter of acceptance, accept the study place offered by the given deadline.

-Always ensure to read through all the material you have received from your school and enroll to the university accordingly.
Masters Program:

For its master’s program, access and register in the online application platform, fill in the application and send it:

-Submit all the required documents by the given deadline.

-Check the admission results and see if you have been accepted.

-When you receive the letter of acceptance, accept the study place offered by the given deadline.

-Read through all the material you have received from your school and enroll to the university.
Doctorate Degree:

Like most leading Universities, Aalto University uses the applicant’s potential for academic and/or artistic postgraduate studies, the standard and feasibility of the research plan and the prospect of the applicant completing the studies within the agreed schedule as selection criteria for doctoral studies.

Each school also has its own grounds for selecting doctoral candidates determining the evaluation criteria in more detail.

The schools usually have one or two selection periods a year for doctoral programs with the exception of some programs for which applications may be submitted at any time. Applicants should visit the schools’ web pages for guidelines on the application process.
