It seems the era of 2013 is back here, why would you want to study a course like MBA at VIU? Why would you even want to attend a school like VIU? At least try to learn from other people's experience. You know what, I wont say much just type VIU in the nairaland search bar and read for yourself.

its about my transcript ma'am I also posted it here. but for you to reply me. am having six years gap and its eating me up. that's my biggest fear now ma'am.

this what my transcript looks like. and everything stated here is the truth ma'am. but I want you to help criticize and help me fix it well.
1. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE CSU?

ANSWER: aside from the fact that CSU's curriculum matches with my desired course, CSU is ranked among the best national university in the US by USnews and world report. Its engineering program is ranked among the top 200 in the us. Also the major reason why I choose CSU is because the tuition and board fee is grantee for fall 2018. Which means there won't be any subsequent charge on those. With this I was able to have a good and proper estimation of my study in CSU.

2.WHAT WILL THIS COURSE DO FOR YOU?

Answer:As a passionate computer lover, this course will give me more knowledge on how to practise computer. It will equip me with the knowledge on how to solve and fix computer problem. Also considering the fact that I got this degree from US it will add more credit to my profile and make me fit and more relevant to compete in the Nigerian market.

WHAT IS YOUR HIGHEST LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION?

Answer: Olevel certificate

WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE AFTER GRADUATION?

Answer: after my graduation in 2012, I considered going for my undergraduate studies here in Nigeria then masters in the US. but I was dissatisfied by the way the course was handled in the school, no good research centers in the school. My family and I had to fast track my study in the us. Because if am unable to grab anything in my undergraduate level there won't be anything to master on.

3.DID YOU CHOOSE ANY OTHER SCHOOL? COMPARE THE SCHOOLS.

ANSWER: I consider so many schools but I settled for two. Which is CSU and uhv..the most common things among the schools is that the both are public schools and are tier 2 universities in the us. CSU is a national public university while uhv is a regional west public university. Also the both offer bsc in computer science.

4. WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING AFTER THIS COURSE??

Answer: Considering the fact that the degree gotten from the us is highly respected internationally. This degree will make me more relevant in the Nigerian work sector. So I will be returning home to join the work force in my country. I will be fit to work in different sectors such as Industries, government etc.

Thank you so much for reposting this. First things first, don't kill yourself over things you can't change. The 6 year gap is something you can't change, it has happened already, why worry about it? Nobody will deny your visa solely because of a 6 year gap. They may not even ask you that question. If you're asked, say what you've been doing and keep it simple (your proposed answer wasn't).

Personally, I think your answers are too vague. You talk about a curriculum matching your desired course for instance. I have absolutely no clue what that means (A VO may not ask you to explain and instead go with the "this one is just saying nonsense" gut feeling).

I always stress understanding a question before answering it. Let's take your question 1 for example... Depending on when this question is asked, it may mean different things.

Scenario 1:
VO: why are you going to the U.S?
You: to study at CSU.
VO: Why did you choose CSU?

Scenario 2:
VO: how many schools did you apply to, name them and how many offered admission?
You: Three; CSU, OU, UT; all three.
VO: Why did you choose CSU?

See? In these two scenarios, I would think the first one is asking WHY did you apply to CSU? What about the school caught your eye? While the second one is asking why you accepted the admission offer from CSU (and not why you applied there).

I like the guaranteed tuition part (try to quote figures), I feel like it answers scenario 2 a whole lot better. You need more work on how you're answering questions.

Try to watch Donald Trump's speeches (I wish I had a better example lol), he won't just say "the past governor wasted a lot of money" or "That was a bad deal for Americans". He will specifically tell you the amount of Millions abi billions wasted, and immediately, he'd sway your mind and you'd think he spent the last 72 hours investigating lol. This is what I encourage. "They are going to double my salary" is not as strong as "They'll increase my salary from 150k to 300k".

"The course will make me practise computer" is a "No" for me.

Finally: Considering the fact that the degree gotten from the us is highly respected internationally. This degree will make me more relevant in the Nigerian work sector. So I will be returning home to join the work force in my country. I will be fit to work in different sectors such as Industries, government etc. summarizes your general approach to answering questions: Too vague.

My recommendation: go back and read your "statement of purpose" if you submitted one during your application. Tell yourself what YOU really want and practise how to communicate this clearly to a VO.

Good day Everyone.
I'm a silent reader from Kuwait and I'm in urgently in need of you guys help.
I was refused F1 visa some weeks ago and the main reason was because I was refused visit visa in 2016.
This is the transcript

V.O: why did you choose New Mexico Highlands Uni

Me: I choosed New Mexico Highlands Uni because it's a public research institute which core values are responsiveness, diversity & excellence. It's a small & calm place to learn and grow. The computer science department has 2 large teaching lab, 3 small research lab & also an areas set aside for network experimentations. The classes are about 15-35students, this enables the professors to know you all by names and u can always meet them if you have any problem with your studies.

V.O: which countries have you been to

Me: Nigeria, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates.

V.O: where do you work and how much is your salary

Me: I told him

V.O: does your husband works for Us Army

Me: my husband is an accountant

V.O: ohh your friend works for US Army

Me: then I remembered the family friend sponsoring my visit visa back in 2016 works with the Us Army but lives in Kuwait. So I told him yes a family friend works with the USA Army

V.O: Are you going with your husband

Me: I'm going alone, my husband works here in Kuwait.

V.O: he types for a while and told me he is sorry, he can't approve my visa.

Please I'm planning to go for another interview by next month hopefully. I know it's hard to convince them since it's in their record I have a family friend in USA army but I need you guys help. I believe you can help me out. I just need to get this b.sc please. I will be patiently waiting for your responses.
Thanks in advance & God bless

I do understand your point Ma'am. Thank you

I think the question that the VO asked was 'how did you hear about the school?'

Is it out of place to answer by saying that you heard or it was recommended by a friend who is a student there then you went ahead to make your research...?

LagosismyHome:

Friends can recommend rubbish so really that doesn't mean anything ..... a serious student even if someone tells you a school is the greatest , the word of mouth isn't enough for you to choose a school . It can be a start but never a good enough reason

A serious student would spend time researching about the school , the program , the opportunities and see if it fit.

From your transcript yes I can see the VO cut afodam247 , off so maybe he or she had planned to go more indepth

anybody plss??

NiklausAkins:
[5/21, 9:40 PM] Niklaus: Hello house..
My Interview is here already and i need you guys to criticise this from all angle.. Thanks a million..
Going for Undergrad.

How many schools did you apply to??
3, University of Iowa, University of Wyoming and Pensacola Christain college.

Why University of Iowa??
*Well i picked university of Iowa because of the schools Academic excellence and reputation, its ranked top 200 universities in the world according to THE, and then 31st best public university in america , making it a top notch university.
*Secondly, I picked the university because of thrre regular involvements with robots. Ever since 2014, they have this yearly Robot program, where the student of computer science come together and then program robots, with the use of C++, Java, python and some softwares. And this is something am looking forward to been part of, as i have a
passion of specializing in Programming, especially Programming Robots, because i believe theyre the future.
* Also the class size, about 60% of the classes in UIOWA, are fewer than 20 students, and considering the course am doing computer Science where 100% accuracy and precision is needed(at least from my little experience in HTML putting a comma instead of a dot wld affect the end result). And considering the amount my parents will be paying, i believe its a really standard one.

*How did you hear about this school??
I attended a british standard secondary school, so during our last year people from the UK,Canada and US and Some people from Nigeria came to talk to us on schooling abroad, thats where i got to know about alot of Universities in the US and this one in particular and then with little help from usnews.com, the, and google i was able to pick this one at last.

Any standardized test??
Yes SAT(Score 1180).

Who is sponsoring
Ma parents (MUM nd DAD)

When did u graduate??
2014

What have you been doing since then?
Graduated at a very yound age, so my mum enrolled me for a diploma course and i just finished about 2 months ago...

Please Criticise this, what should i improve on, or what should i not say from the above.

Godbless thanks..

Thank so much ma'am for your observation and correction. Actually I was trying to be concise in my answers here.

in the first answer I was unable to talk about how the curriculum fits with my intending course. I also want to ask, what if I talk about the rankings and the guarantee aspect of the tuition and the boards as the reasons why I chooses the school. will this be ok? or do I really need to talk about the curriculum matching with my choice of course?.

The answers I gave towards what will this course do for you? was gotten from the school's website. But am still going to work seriously on that ma'am.

what would you be doing after your study in the US?

what if say. I will be returning to my Nigeria to join the work force. I also intend working with the government agency like EFCC to help in combating against cyber crime in Nigeria. i would also love to setup a big IT firm here in Nigeria, where I will able to groom and train passionate computer lovers.( I can also provide a job letter as In form of a job offer from a Chinese company partnering with our company as a proof of home tie)

would love to know your own thought on this ma'am.

Hi everyone, I’m in a fix right now. My Dad has two domiciliary accounts, One with a good inflow and outflow but with an end balance of 4,000USD, then the other one with just two transactions made on the account since it’s inception, with an end balance of 33,000USD which is more than sufficient to cater for my tuition and other expenses. I saw the SOA for the 33k account yesterday and it was just a one page document, with two column for the two deposits ever made on the account.

Pls my question is, can I transfer the amount I need to the other account with good cash flow, minding the fact that it may appear I intentionally deposited the lump sum just to get a visa? Or I can just use the other account with just two deposits made on it? I’m a bit skeptical about this because I have seen SOAs with more than 20 pages solely meant for VISA purposes.

Thanks

In my own view i think the best option is to go with both so far they both carry your father's name
