The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its nationwide strike. The decision to suspend the strike followed the intervention of the Director of DSS, the Minister of Labour and Productivity, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. PENGASSAN giving reasons for the strike had earlier alleged anti-labour practices against some of its members by some indigenous oil companies. The management of Neconde Energy Limited represented by its Medical Director and legal consultants offered a letter of recall to the sacked employees of the company. The management also agreed to allow the union to exist in the company. PENGASSAN National PRO, Fortune Obi who disclosed the decision to suspend the strike to Channels television added that the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, therefore, agreed to endeavor to resolve anti-union posture by other indigenous companies and marginal field operators while a meeting was fixed for second week of January 2018 to look at the issues. https://www.channelstv.com/2017/12/18/breaking-pengassan-suspends-nationwide-strike/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

me na trekking guy so fuel don't affect me but have they made a decision, so why are they suspending the strike, something is happening behind the scenes. someone must have promised them 170 per litre. 1 Like |

Saaruman: So, you want to buy fuel at 97 naira, when it costs 142 naira to import that fuel, and when oil price is low, at 63 dollars meaning no revenue to subsidize oil, and keep value of naira up. Gej sold fuel for 97.Then oil was at 100-120 dollars per barrel, meaning money dey to subsidize fuel, and buffer the naira. And for over ten years, we import 50m liters of fuel daily, and produce 18million at home. Bubu is not a good leader, but there are reasons why fuel is expensive 4 Likes |

fellowman:educate yourself, pengassan was threatening to strike because of grievances with ONE private company. It was abuse of power to attempt to cripple the whole country because of that. It was like all restaurant workers in the country threatening to go on strike simply because Mr Biggs staff had a problem with their management. If such a siituation is it not Mr Biggs workers that will go on strike? Wetin concern their Union telling Chicken republic workers and all other fast food retailers to strike as well? 5 Likes |
