Even the nurses at the general hospitals in Lagos are not helping matters in taking care of newborns. They don't allow mother's to breastfeed newborns within the first few hours of birth instead they feed the bank with drops of water. This I found very strange!!!

Nigeria's population is too much that is why the government doesn't seem to care from people dying senselessly all over the place from fulani herdsmen, road accidents, poor health facilities, 21 people gunned down in Rivers state, police report for gunshot wounds b4 treatment etc. They know Nigerians breeds like rats so they dont really care about the deaths

...And HOW would UNICEF know that figure?

Just because a western or White organisation says something we just take it as fact without questioning at all..

How do they know this? Who contacted them on New Year's Day to let them know after every child was born ?

If you check very well, majority of them are poor families shooting out kids from right to left without any means or plans to take care of such kids. Its a pity these kids ll come into Naija to suffer more. The population explosion in few years from now ll be terrible.
...go to most rural setting you will see no industry just farming and hunting yet the average house hold is seven and the husband is still in his 30s or early 40s and you begin to wonder

Useless statistics of mainstream news propaganda.
How did you know where and when the "first" and "last" baby would be born? What medical or scientific criteria was used to predict that? Again, estimates should be treated as estimates. So many miseducated elements in the society. Let UNICEF, IMF and Commonwealth leave Nigeria alone.

Hmmmm!

These 20,200 babies born in Nigeria on January 1st are simply the unfortunate ones.

Being born a Nigerian is a curse in no small measure.

A still birth would have been an escape route for some.

I wish them all the best as they strive to survive in a country with no vision.

YOU LACK COMMON SENSE... ACCORDING TO UR USELESS TALK, YOU HAVE NO VISION IN LIFE BECAUSE YOU ARE A NIGERIAN
