The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)  has commended the effort so far made by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in executing its asset and customer enumeration, describing it “as a benchmark which other Discos will be required to emulate.”
This commendation was conveyed in a letter signed by the General Manager, Consumer Affairs, NERC, Dr. Anthony Akah, after EEDC’s presentation on the progress of its ongoing customer enumeration by Manager GIS, EEDC, Mr. Uche Anyalewechi, at the commission’s office in Abuja, recently.
As a statutory requirement by NERC, EEDC has since commenced this project, using Geographical Information System (GIS) technology, which allows it to efficiently map its entire electrical network system by updating its database and also capturing all electrical assets within its network, with each part of the infrastructure registered on the map. The project is also expected to improve decision making in its operations.
The exercise, which is of immense benefit to both EEDC and its customers is aimed at facilitating comprehensive metering of all electricity customers; easy identification of all electrical assets and their state; identification of all existing customers; adequate planning for potential customers and network expansion.
Others include improved power supply and quick response to faults; effective power distribution and monitoring through remote sensing; prompt identification of damaged and non-functional equipment for replacement, as well as improved customer service delivery.
The exercise, which effectively commenced early last year with Enugu as the pilot, will soon be extended to other states within EEDC’s franchise areas.
“Customers are therefore encouraged to cooperate with our enumerators when they visit their homes, and also avail them with the necessary information needed to make this project a success,” he said.

There are quite high number of areas you can apply that for exam, location of facility within you construction site eg utility area.

You can also create a network of facility connectivity with GIS showing the best and cost effective route in linking of utility to various area of your site eg gas, sewage etc

You can create a geodatabase of existing facilities showing giving some details about them whc ease easy management of your facilities

Among others.

For those within Ibadan and Lagos environs looking for ArcGIS retailers, I recommend GISKONSULT, Ibadan, silver partners with ESRI.

I am a geographer (specialist in cartography aka mapmaking) so I think I am in a good position to answer yoir question.

Every map has a scale but not every map has written or drawn scale attached to it.
Re: Thread For Geographic Information System (GIS) Analysts by XERX3S: 8:15am On Feb 28, 2019
downloaded a whole bunch of tutorials.

the plan is to start with QGIS, then move on to ArcGIS once I grab the whole concept.

I also plan on learning basic Python so as to facilitate automation.

well here goes nothing grin, if I perish, I perish.
