The Nigeria police force says it has begun investigations into the physical assault of a pregnant woman and two of her friends by some of its officials in Delta state that led to the death of the pregnant woman's set of quadruplets. Recall that two days ago, a video went viral showing some police officers attacking a pregnant woman in Asaba, the Delta state capital. The pregannt woman was rushed to the hospital where she was informed she had lost her babies as a result of the attack.

Reacting via its twitter handle, the police force says its X-squad had already commenced a holistic investigation into the alleged brutality of the woman with a view to bringing any of the police officers found culpable to book. The force said that those behind the attack were personnels of the Zone 5 tactical squad that are based in Delta.

The force in the statement denied reports in some quarters that it was begging the victim.
