5 past January Transfer Oops!!! by MicheyJ1: 3:54pm On Jan 13, 2018
The 2018 January transfer window is now wide open and many clubs across the ‎globe are looking to bolster their squads with new players in order to make better impact in their respective league. Some will eventually turn out well for their new clubs, while some will prove to be a bad investment.
1. ANDY CARROLL (Newcastle to Liverpool)
After impressing for Newcastle, Andy Carroll joined Liverpool On 31 January 2011 after a bid of £35 million was accepted.
The transfer made Carroll the eighth overall most expensive footballer at the time, and also the most expensive British footballer of all time. He also became the second most expensive footballer playing for a British club, after Fernando Torres.
The highlight of Carroll’s move to Liverpool was his late winner in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against city rivals Everton in the semi-final of the 2012 FA Cup in Wembley. He also featured in the 2012 League Cup final win against Cardiff.
Carroll was however loaned out to West Ham in the 2012/2013 season after scoring just 11 goals in 58 appearances in all competitions in his two seasons at Liverpool.
2. JUAN CUADRADO (Fiorentina to Chelsea)
The exciting winger joined Chelsea from Fiorentina on 2 February 2015 on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a reported initial fee of £23.3 million.
But things did not go as expected at Chelsea for Cuadrado as he struggled to earn playing time with Mourinho arguing in an interview, “Everyone believes that he needs to
play all the time or at least every match, but like every player that joins a new club, he needs time. Time which hasn’t been given to Cuadrado. I do believe that he’ll be
amazing next season.”
Despite winning the League Cup and the Premier League title, Cuadrado returned to Juventus after signing a season-long loan deal for €1.5 million. He made 13 appearances in all
competitions without scoring.
He eventually made his loan move to Juventus permanent on 22 May 2017 for a preset price of €20 million until 2020, after a clause in his contract had been triggered.

3:‎ ERIC DJEMBA-DJEMBA (Nantes to Manchester United)
When former Cameroon international, Eric Djemba-Djemba, was signed by Manchester United in January 2003 from Nantes for £1.5m, he was hailed as the ‘new Roy Keane’.
Unfortunately, it proved to be one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s worst signings as the midfielder failed to live up to expectations.
Rather than focusing on the pitch matters, Djemba-Djemba was more ‘famous’ for his lavish spending off the pitch.
He was sold to Aston Villa in the January 2005 transfer window for a fee of £1.5 million after making 20 appearances.

4. JULIUS AGHAHOWA (Shakhtar Donetsk to Wigan Athletic)
Following his exploits for Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, Julius Aghahowa joined Wigan Athletic on 30 January 2007 for an undisclosed fee.
Prior to joining Wigan, Aghahowa had scored 32 goals in 89 games for Shakhtar.
Aghahowa’s move to Wigan turned out to be a wrong one as he did not score a goal in one and half years.
He left Wigan on 20 June 2008 and signed for Turkish club Kayserispor.

5. DIEGO FORLAN (Independiente to Manchester United)
Diego Forlan signed for Manchester United from Argentine side Independiente for £6.9 million on 22 January 2002.
Unfortunately, Forlan failed to deliver in his first season, not netting a single goal. The following campaign wasn’t much better as he scored just six goals in 25 Premier League games.
As a Premier League (2003), FA Cup (2004) and Community Shield (2003) winner, Forlan left United on 21 August 2004 for Villarreal.
He managed to score 10 goals in 63 appearances for the Red Devils.
