Ronaldinho won the world cup at 22 years old. He won every title, worls cup, balon d or, footballer of the year, champions leauge, spanish league, copa del rey, european super cup, everything. He is a mid fielder, not a striker like messi. He scored goals and creates goals. Why do u think eto'o was so deadly? Because of Ronaldinho's passes. Have u seen frank lampard or steven gerrard or Xavi or iniesta scoring 40 goals in one season? NO! They are midfielders. They provide passes. Ronaldinho was a midfielder, but a special one, he scores and he makes others score. Messi is a fantastic player. I will bot deny that. He is a deadly striker who can score from any angle. Take Xavi and Iniesta out of the midfield and see how many goals Messi will score a season. By the way, Ronaldinho is the one who brought Messi on the scene. Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, Lionel Messi has got no Competition in world football today, During Ronaldinho's era, too many players were at their peak and playing at an exciting and equal level, thus it was very difficult to evaluate just ronnie without critically looking at other players of that era. I could'nt help posting a Comment even though this thread is old; Ronaldinho VS Messi I Critically observed both of them (the analysis was very easy since both of them played in the same team around 2008)& I Realized Ronaldinho, was one sick magician. No doubt Messi is awesome, but Ronaldinho mheeeeen... he made of football, what Shakespare made of poetry. For crying out loud how would you guys compare Messi to a tactical Play maker who was one of the best in the trade? Messi wey never even finish competition with CR7... In Ronaldinho's era with the other sick playmakers that were there eg Totti, Riquelme, Recoba, Kaka etc he still clearly stood out undisputably. Messi scores goals, but Ronaldinho scored goals that took breaths away(special goals-ask David Seaman & Oliver Khan). Messi dribbles plainly, basically to evade defenders, but Ronaldinho's dribbles are tactical and strategic(like he has a dribble radar) every move has a motive basically to setup himself for another move or tee up another player(he dribbled with Rhythm). Messi delivers to the crowd, but Dinho entertained the crowd while delivering. A Ronaldinho set peice is more dangerous than a Messi set peice till tommorow. Ronaldinho is freak'n both footed, Messi uses only his Left. Ronaldinho is one of the most creative footballers that ever existed(he pulls out ideas in sticky situations), Messi is not that creative- his approach to offence is rather direct. One of Ronaldinho's main assets is his technical ability to understand team formations and setup other players, but Messi is not that kind of Player. Of course we all know Ronaldinho is a great Passer of the Ball- he makes an 80yard pass look so easy, I dont see Messi do that, Messi'd rather stick to his amazing dribble runs. Please because irresponsibility killed Ronaldinho, doesnt mean you shouldnt give him his credit, when he was in form, he oozed out Magic in every move- it was truly a joy to watch him play. 1 Like |

Skills: Ronaldinho (Only Okocha comes close) Passes: Messi (these days, I wonder if he is better than Xavi and pirlo) Teamwork: Messi (Dinho was a one-man player most of the time) Goals: Messi (undisputed) Assists: Messi (for those saying Messi is a striker that's why he scores more goals, how come he assists better than most midfielders and more than Dinho had even when Dinho had Eto'o, one of the best finishers of the game?) Consistency: Messi (Ronaldinho didnt last) Spotkicks: Ronaldinho (messi doesnt come close) Fear factor: Messi (yes, more defenders mark messi in every game than dinho was) Versatility: Ronaldinho (good with both feet) Ronaldinho was a much more entertaining player... In games by animation you can crate any moves which isnt even possible (like any fantasy soccer game) and cant create messi 's move.
