Splinter Cell: Conviction is the sixth installment of a long series of games endorsed by the author Tom Clancy. The first Splinter Cell title released back in 2002 and was featured on PC and multiple consoles of that generation. Unlike other Splinter Cell titles that have appeared on Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo machines Conviction is scheduled to release on Xbox 360 and will also appear on PC soon after. The Splinter Cell series has been touted for being some of the top stealth action games available.

According to Hilary Goldstein (IGN’s reviewer) Splinter Cell: Conviction’s single player is “short, really short”, although he scored it a 9.3/10.

Today your average single player campaigns lasts roughly around 8 hours to 11 hours depending on difficulty, there are many titles that support this claim. We’ve seen so many great games have savory campaigns without getting repetitive; I don’t understand why a long existing franchise like Splinter Cell can only pump out a shallow 5 hour single player experience. I have a preference for single player titles. Campaigns I play must have a strong sense of story without “telling it”; Sam Fisher has been around for quite some time now there is much of his back story to be explored. If Splinter Cell is going to have a shallow campaign with side missions to fill hourglasses I don’t want to participate. 5 hours, 5 hours is what I'll be saying after I complete Splinter Cell a few hours after I buy it.

Are developers simply becoming lazy? Co-op and multiplayer aside I think gamers are entitled to single player titles with a decent length. No one is expecting a 40 hour long RPG like experience from Splinter Cell although there should be enough content to satisfy gamers when you consider all the other titles available now.

5hrs? What tha hell? That sucks if true. 9.3? I don't go with review scores. I'll play the game first then give it my own review. 5hrs? That is too short. I was complaining that Heavenly sword is too short at 8hrs but 5hrs? That's mediocre. I hope mass effect and splinter cell doesn't come to PS3 they should keep it exclusive. Tom Clancy's games are mediocre anyways I'll rather read the book.

The Splinter cell games are anything but mediocre, Tom Clancy's Hawx was a pretty good air combat game, and the Ghost recon series (including advanced warfighter) are splendid!

Stop being the worst kind of fanboy there is. Even Kosovo never sunk this low. And i can assure you, a whole lot of PS3 owners would jump at the chance to purchase Mass Effect 2 if it came out on the PS3.

Na you stop being pathetic and ignorant. Have you played Tom Clancy's Hawx? Tell me you read the reviews again and thunder will strike your yansh. Have you plaid Hawx? Tom Clancy's games are mediocre and just plain same ol crap just a different year. Are you for real? Go play Hawx then come back and say it's a good game. I don't see any ps3 owner that wants Masseffect on a PS3. With a character that has no facial expression in gameplay which makes it look like a photoshopped built character. You know nothing about gaming go read reviews as you always do. Even Crash in crash bandicoot on PS1 had very good facial expression which makes gameplay more fun. Mass effect 1 was way better.

How on earth will you say tom clancy's games are mediocre! Have you played double agent? Have you just watched the review of this game at ign?

shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked,  Another one!! I'm currently playing Splinter's cell and it's just another game nothing unique, nothing new. Reviews are too liberal with scores,  Again go rent or buy the game and play. I rented it for this weekend and I should have bought 2012 blu ray instead.I finished this gamein 3.5hrs on easy mode and I'm on realistic (which is the hardest mode) and will finish it in 3hrs. Double agent ain't nothing. Nothing new. Tom Clancy's games are mediocre pushing it hard. He should have made it a movie instead this ain't a game at all. I'm glad I rented it instead. If youhavea 360and really want to play Splinter cell: Conviction, download it for free instead. I won't advice you to buy. Buy final fantasy instead it's good on 360.

@tex have you played the game? NO? then don't say shi@@t. What you ignored is press score gave it 8.2 and some other reviews gave it 7.5,  please. Same people that gave mag 8.9? I won't go with them cause mag sucked until the updates and the free contents started flowing in.

I know you're young, but you don't always have to act like a petulant child. Read my post again, will you, and see if your response is appropriate.

1. You don't have a 360.
2. You aren't exactly the most unbiased critic out there, are you?

I find this bickering to be extremely silly. both consoles have their exclusives, lots of good games on either side. You don't have to run down the game selection on the rival console to make yourself feel better about your choices. That's pathetic. Enjoy what you have.

At the end of the day, strong competition benefits the consumers more. As it stands, competition is what drives Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft to bring out new ideas to keep us entertained. I would not change that for the world!

1. You once claimed you had a 360 but sold it long ago
2. You never talk about any 360 gaming

That's why i came to that conclusion. Feel free to prove me wrong grin
