An Interesting take on the Herdsmen/farmers clash in Taraba
and Benue states. Wammako has forgotten that the clashes predated the States' Anti Grazing law and States such as Kaduna, Adamawa and Plateau without the law are suffering from the menace.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and his Taraba State counterpart Darius Ishaku should be held responsible for killings taking place in their states because of their short sighted, unfair and illegal passing of Anti-Open Grazing laws which seek to expel some Nigerian citizens from their states, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko [APC, Sokoto Central] said in Abuja yesterday. Wamakko, who is the former governor of Sokoto State, said rather than seek a level headed solution to the problem of clashes between farmers and herders by involving all stakeholders, the two governors went for a measure that is selfish and political and which has now backfired by igniting more crises and killings.
Wamakko, who is also chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, said clashes between farmers and pastoralists have existed for many decades but are worsening in recent years due to population pressure. Governors, he said, could lessen the crises by being fair to all since every Nigerian is allowed by the constitution to live in any part of the country and pursue his legitimate means of livelihood. He also condemned the tendency by politicians and news media to blame the pastoralists for all the violence, saying the herders too are often attacked in the rural communities and their cattle are rustled. Measures such as the Anti-Open Grazing law adopted by Ortom and Ishaku aggravate the problem because it encourages some people to take the law into their own hands and try to drive the pastoralists out of their states, he said.

Senator Wamakko called for a national stakeholders’ summit to seek a nation-wide solution to the problem. He said unless the Federal Government takes the lead and works out a solution, some unscrupulous state governors will continue to play politics with the issue and promote self-serving solutions for their electoral benefit while people continue to get killed and maimed.

Anti-Open Grazing laws which seek to expel some Nigerian citizens from their states, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko [APC, Sokoto Central] said in Abuja yesterday.

Senator wamakko suddenly found his voice, did the fulani herdsmen carnage start today Destruction of other people's means of livelihood and killing them is not an attempt to expel them right What stops the fulani herdsmen from purchasing a land and turn it into a ranch Or the lives of cattle is more important than human lives Or the implementation of open anti grazing law is now a death sentence because the fulani herdsmen don't like it

The clueless senator is against open anti grazing law, but would support the creation of colonies across the country for people doing their private business...

Finally, senator wamakko should "Go and die", open anti grazing law stays and there is nothing him and his fulani herdsmen terrorists friends can do about it, the fulani herdsmen are not above the law, just as the Nigerians who are not Muslims obeys the sharia law implemented in some states in the north...

The sponsors of this group are really speaking out one after the other. The killing they are carrying out in Kaduna and other states, is it because anti open grazing law?

This jihadists think we dnt knw their agenda, the christian community is ready for them. They shouldnt stop, they should continue, they will experience commensurate response jst like they are experiencing in Taraba.

They should try Ekiti state that was the 1st state that enacted the law and see what wil happen to them

The lives of cattle is more important than human lives and any law that doesn't favour their cattle will be resisted by more killings...

The fulani herdsmen are superior and above anyone and everybody in the country, I still wonder why we have to share the same country with this animals with no regards for human lives...SMH
