Go to court over an inconsequential white paper? Abeg shift one side. The supreme court already settled this matter in 2007 when Obasanjo wanted to use the white paper of an administrative panel of inquiry to stop Atiku and some other politicians from contesting then. Only a court of competent jurisdiction can bar a qualified Nigerian from contesting or holding public office. This is just an empty order similar to the one done by Wike against Amaechi in Rivers state.

This is more or less like a jittery reaction and it will only increase the popularity of fayemi and give people the impression that fayose and PDP are really scared of him. If fayose as the sitting governor with all the political apparatus and state machinery at his disposal can resort to this,then PDP really need to have a rethink and plan very well for ekiti next election

Why would the people of Ekiti want Fayemi to return as Governor? We've seen so many times how these past leaders end up performing worse in their return to power. Ekiti being one of the most educated States in Nigeria, I find it hard to believe that there are no other qualified candidates for Governor, abi we never learn from Buhari and OBJ? I guess it's true what they say, intelligence greatly differs from being smart!

Why is fayose afraid of fayemi. If he has done really good in Ekiti, he shouldn't be afraid of anybody who can give him or his political son a good fight. I wonder how this guy called fayose can be the president of a country in his mind and that of his prophetess( wife) who does not tolerates strong opposition. I'm neither a fan of fayose nor fayemi.

Fayose’s kangaroo panel recommendations, a joke taken too far

The attention of the Media Office of the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has been drawn to the pre-meditated verdict of the Ekiti State Government, as contained in the white paper submitted by the panel set up by Governor Ayo Fayose to investigate the finances of the state between 2010 and 2014.

While we believe it is part of the responsibilities of the state administration to look into the finances of the state at any point in time, we are also of the belief  that such must be done in a very responsible manner devoid of prejudice, witch hunting and a calculated attempt to victimise a citizen.

In this particular case, the entire process is discredited right from the beginning, as the only agenda of the panel was to rubbish Dr Kayode Fayemi’s public service record.

One is therefore not surprised at the recommendations of the White Paper: It only goes to confirm our initial position that the panel was compromised right from inception and targeted against Dr Fayemi.

In his desperation, Governor Fayose chose the crude and ignoble path towards hitting a perceived political foe.

In the process, they ignored the rule of law and behaved as if the court does not matter. Thus making their actions subjudice  to the court.

Fayose was however misguided into believing that he could pass a death sentence on Dr Fayemi’s public service with the white paper. This is not only laughable, but ridiculous, as neither Governor Fayose nor his paid agents has the power to bar anyone from political participation.

The entire process and the character personae involved are discredited and since it is impossible to build something on nothing, legally speaking, their recommendation is not only null and void, it is ultra vires.

We urge the teeming supporters of Dr Fayemi, the good people of Ekiti State and the general public not to be disturbed by the development. It is simply another act of illegality, from an administration that has elevated political debauchery to state craft.

It shall not stand.  It is nothing but a joke taken too far, perhaps joke of the century.

Since Fayemi has the APC structure in Ekiti, he is most likely to emerge the APC candidate. ..and art is he today in Ekiti, the name Fayemi is synonymous with failure and sack. Fayose is smart.

You are a wise man my brother. Fayose's headache is actually Oni. Oni is the candidate to beat in Ekiti now cos he performed better than all of them and has no case to answer.
However, even Fayemi's declaration of interest is a decoy to distract Fayose. He will eventually step down for Oni in the last minute. This is politics. All the heavyweights will first throw in to alter calculations. Then, they step down one by one.
