Episode 1

On January 2017,
I met a lady called Maryann popularly known as CHINAZA (God answers). Chinaza is a well manned girl, she has all the qualities of a good wife
which I must recommend and that’s what attracted me to her.
I met her in the village during Christmas festival. The day I met her was the day I and other members of our kindred escorted my senior brother Mondon for marriage introduction. The way, the so called Chinaza behaved and served us marvels me and I began to pick interest in her. The compound was her maternal home so she came over to help serve us that day. After set and done, we went home. I couldn’t stop thinking about her when we got home. The next day we went there again for second introduction, I still saw her again. I picked more interest in her. After the introduction, we paid the dowry,
Thereafter, went home. I tried to comfort myself and leave Chinaza but I couldn’t.
So that night, as we were outside drinking, my brother’s fiancee which we paid her dowry (Ujunwa) came to our house.
I called her aside, I asked her who the girl I saw in their compound is and she explained.
“Hugeman why are you asking about her? ” Ujunwa asked.
I told her nothing, just that I like her. “abeg Igwe no nearram at all!” she said jokingly. “why did you said so? ” I curiously asked. “Igwe you like woman and she can’t tolerate that, as you can see, she haven’t been in a relationship since her life. Anybody she is going to date will be a type that Doesn’t go after woman. Am not saying you’re a womanizer,dont get me wrong, you’ve so many woman admirers which she wouldn’t be comfortable with. So please forget about her, I don’t want anything that will hurt her emotionally.
I convinced her and gave her the reason why she’ll trust me with Chinaza. She told me to follow her to her house so that she will call her out for me.
I abandoned my drink and go with her. On getting there, she was already coming outside so I stopped her. Ujunwa left us and moved inside the compound. As she stopped, I was looking at her speechless because I don’t know how and what to tell her. She greeted me.
ME: How’re you?
CHINAZA: I’m fine.
ME: What’s your name? ** I knew her name but just want to ask,make I dey prolong our talk**
CHINAZA : I’m Maryann and as well Chinaza
ME : wow! What a nice name. I like you!
CHINAZA : she looked at me Thank you.
ME: I’m so sorry for requesting for this now because I will be travelling tomorrow, Can you give me your number? **she kept quiet ** I said am sorry for requesting this now,please just…..
CHINAZA : **cut in ** There is no problem. But I can’t give you my number because, I bought the SIM card new, I don’t have it off head and beside I’ve flat battery.
ME : okay, give me a number I’ll use to contact you because I don’t think we’ll see again before I travel.
CHINAZA: I don’t………… ** Her brother Ikenna interrupted us and told her that her attention is needed in the house,she turned to me** I’ll be going.
** She left with her brother. I stood there for some minutes before I went home.
All through the night, I tried to see her again but I couldn’t. I later saw Ujunwa and I asked her of Chinaza and she told me that they have gone to her father’s house. I asked her for her number and she told me that she doesn’t have her going phone number. “Her phone was stolen, she bought new simcard so I don’t have that her new number” Ujunwa said.
“so did you’ve have any number that I can use to reach her? ” I asked.
UJUNWA: wait for her nah, tomorrow they’ll still come to our house.
ME: No, I’ll be travelling tomorrow morning.
UJUNWA: you’re going back tomorrow! Eyaah! We’re going to miss you more especially your funny talk.
we laughed I only have her mother’s number, should I give you?
ME: yes, give me!
** she gave me Chinaza’s mother number.
Thereafter she left and as I was going home some people came out from the bush with a lady, what I heard was
“Igwe stop there” with a harsh voice which staggered me!!
Who could they be?
