Kwara North Marginilization by JMOB(m): 6:45pm On Jan 16, 2018
KWARA NORTH 2019 MARGINALIZATION AND SYSTEMATIC DESTRUCTION OF A PEOPLE. Marginalization is the process of making a group or class of people less important or relegated to the secondary position. When one class of people is grouped together as second class citizens this is an example of marginalization . It is a phenomenon in which individuals or people are systematically blocked from or denied full access to various rights opportunities and resources that are normally available to members of a different group. And which are fundamental to social integration and observance of human rights within that particular group e.g employment, democratic participation and due process. The outcome of social extension is that affected individuals or communities are prevented from participating fully in the economic, social and political life of the society in which they live. These people get a little opportunity to survive. Marginalization is not a devine law but various social agencies of powerful authority such as corrupt officials, ethnic arrogance, false beliefs, dualistic economy and feudal system which contribute to it powerfully. The Kwara North people have been and still are socially, economically, politically and legally ignored, excluded or neglected and are therefore vulnerable to gradual extinction. Kwara North is among the three senatorial districts of Kwara State. What the people of the said zone are experiencing in all aspects of life are better imagined than experienced. The local government areas affected are principally Baruten,Edu, Kaima and Patigi. Moro is not included here because of obvious reasons which we will enumerate later.. The socio-economic and political life of people of Kwara North is so pathetic and worrisome. The term marginalization which literally means a social phenomenum of excluding a minority, subgroup or undesirables by ignoring their needs, desires and expectations is an understatement when compared with the state of things in Kwara North since the inception of Kwara State in 1967. The decay and paralysis of the available infrastructures have subjected us to an untold and unwarranted hardships of various dimensions. Poverty and malnutrition are on the increase by the day. Reason for these abnormalities are not farfetched. Good road is a prerequisite for every meaningful development without which a society will remain stagnant and unproductive in all human endeavors. This has been the true state of Kwara North roads. All the roads linking all the local governments in Kwara North with the state capital are worse than death trap. Kaiama- Kishi road, Patigi-Share road, Baruteen Ilorin, Lafiagi-Ilorin road are all in deplorable state. Their good condition is not supposed to be a privilege but a right and an obligation on the part of the government towards the people. It is most unfortunate that the entire people of Kwara North have since been denied the vitality and benefit of the singular infrastructure for decades, thereby subjecting the people to crippled economic and social activities and equally discouraging the investors from harnessing the investment opportunities of this area which would have translated into employment opportunities for the people. Education Closely related with the above is the shabby state of our primary and post primary schools. Elementary education is the foundation of education and academic system. The learning environment of our schools are in sorry states. The classrooms, learning materials, teaching aids and proper funding are next to nothing thereby frustrating the learning for our upcoming generation and by implication, the future of Kwara North. Also in this direction is the absence of well equipped and proper funding institutions of higher learning. The only higher institution in Kwara North is COE Lafiagi which has been struggling for survival because of Kwara State total neglect of the said school. Other Senatorial districts in the state are having more than enough higher institutions particularly Kwara Central both federal and state owned institutions. Is Kwara North not part of Kwara State? Or are we strangers in our own state? Away from the above is the high rate of unemployment in our dear Senatorial district. The unemployment rate in Kwara North is very alarming and in fact required urgent response. Each time the state government is recruiting, it is always lopsided and detrimental to the zone. Every responsible government is expected to be conscious of quota system and sense of belonging. That is not the case with Kwara State government. Kwara Central and South have been much more favoured against Kwara North. Federal employments are no where to be found among the people in this senatorial district. It has always been deposited in the Central. On the political scene, Kwara North is the only Senatorial district which has not had the opportunity to rule the state like others. The only chance we had was that of Sha'aba Lafiagi who didn't spend up to two years before sent packing by the then military government. Kwara Central ruled the state for a period of twelve years while Kwara South is already on the way to eight years of rulership. Under principle of fairness, justice and good conscience, come 2019, Kwara North is expected to produce the next governor. But surprisingly , even before the said 2019, some political players from Kwara Central who are not conscious of equality and desperate to completely relegate the Senatorial district are already showing their desperation to take over from the current administration. This is the height of political insensitivity and irrationality which we will resist with everything within the armpit of the law. We will no longer tolerate been made *second class* citizens in our own state. However the issue of perennial floods devastating our land and peoples, and the criminal neglect of government and manipulating and diverting ecological funds from the federal government.is equally inhuman. MORO LGA - A BIZARRE CASE Moro Local Government Area is no doubt one of the five Local Government Areas which constitute Kwara North Senatorial District. However, for three major reasons listed below, Moro Local Government does not fall into the same category of ethnic, cultural political and Socio-economic cleansing that is affecting the remaining four local governments. 1. Moro LGA shares the same cultural values and geographical area with Kwara Central. 2. Moro Local Government is also one of the five Local Government Areas that constitute Ilorin Emirate. Its sizable number of population shares the same ancestral and kingship relationships among themselves. 3. Moro Local Government is already home for two most important and powerful tertiary Institutions owned by Kwara State. These are Kwara State Polytechnic and Kwara State University. The staff and students of these two Institutions comprises of more than 80% of the Emirate of which Moro Local Government is one. Thank you and God bless. Liman patigi 08038551140

I'm not from kwara state, I wanna know their contribution to the state.

We must stop this nonsense of parasite regions having what they do not deserve.

We need total disintegration or confederation, so any parasitic region that does not want to have sense will have no one to blame.

This it's the way states like sokoto, katstina, kebbi,Niger, kano etc will start lamenting by the time Nigeria it's restructured

Although I agree with you to an extent about restructuring, that shouldn't stop any group of persons from enjoying the dividends of democracy in an ideal situation
