Not less than three months that the Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha created the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment to address ‘bitterness’ in the state, that the United Kingdom on Wednesday appointed Tracy Crouch ‘Minister for loneliness’ to tackle problems of loneliness affecting millions of people in the country, newsmen report

According to Rochas Okorocha, “the real essence of life is to be happy and to fulfil one’s purpose in life. Government officials are elected to address this. This is the very reason people elect their leaders to guarantee their happiness and purpose fulfilment. “Happiness and Purpose Ministry therefore, is established for the lost time to correct the policy framework to guide Ministries and Department son what they must do to guarantee the citizens happiness and contribute better to the society”, he said. On Uk’s part, Prime Minister Theresa May said “For far too many people, loneliness is the sad reality of modern life. “I want to confront this challenge for our society and for all of us to take action to address the loneliness endured by the elderly, by carers, by those who have lost loved ones — people who have no one to talk to or share their thoughts and experiences with”, he said. In view of her motion to combat loneliness in the country, Uk today appointed Tracy Crouch, a junior Minister for Sport and Civil Society to take charge of the needs of aged and lonely people in the country. The tweeter handle of @JoCoxFoundation, a foundation that brings together people & organisations to fight for the fairer, kinder & more tolerant world the late Jo Cox MP believed in, made this known to newsmen. We look forward to working together to tackle loneliness in all its forms together “Jo experienced & witnessed loneliness throughout her life especially as a new student at Cambridge University & separated from her sister Kim for first time. She would be delighted by @tracey crouch’s new job as Minister for Loneliness & would be saying ‘let’s get to work!’ In her reaction to the appointment, Tracey Crouch opined that “I am both proud & humbled to be appointed #loneliness minister in order to continue Jo Cox’s great work & deliver recommendations of the @JoCoxFoundation working in partnership across government, business & so many brilliant orgs/charities to combat social isolation & loneliness.”

But does it justify the creation of a similar ministry in Imo state? You got count one before two; Imo state like any other in Nigeria was still way behind any region in the UK in terms of social wefare benefits including pensions. Let Imo first take care of primary needs.
