The current Strike action embarked upon by the Non-academic Staffs in Nigerian Varsities may not end soon as the row over the crisis has deepened, EDUCATION HERALD can report.

In a letter sent round to all Chairmen of Non-academic Unions in various Varsities, the Striking Workers ordered that Branch Executives should ensure that all strike resolutions are respected without delay.

The letter warned that any Branch that fails to ensure that the Strike is effected will be punished. The Letter read in part "The leadership of JAC met on 16th of January, to review the ongoing National strike action, JAC seeks that all Members do not succumb to pressure from any quarters and to stand their ground with the National strike actions".

The letter was signed by Comrade Samson Uguoke, Comrade Engr Sani Suleiman and Com Chris Ani National Presidents of , SSANU, NAAT and NASU respectively

It would be recalled that some institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ibadan have resumed despite the ongoing National Strike actions by the Non-academic Workers.

The Controversy Started after the Federal Government released a 23billion Naira Earned Allowance to University workers with an 89% to 11% sharing ratio for the Academic and Non-academic Staffs respectively.

The striking workers have also alleged that their members have been targeted by Policemen and Men of the DSS.
