All around people say "The Fulbe have light skin" etc etc. However, I was watching a documentary about African tribes as usual and came across this one. They are definitely not what people have said most of them look like. Do any of the Fulani on the forum care to elaborate as to why?

Did you watch any part of the video?

These Fulani are "Wodaabe". They don't mix with outsiders. So your first point is invalid. It also seems like none of them have "light skin" associated with Fulani in Nigeria/Cameroon.

In regards to your second point, do Wodaabe keep slaves? I've never heard of this or read of this anywhere, however it could be true. If some knowledgeable Fula would like to present facts, please stand up.

They are seem darker because they are more expose to sun and they are the unrest people, They herd cows true out their life.

Fulani came in Brown, Extreme Fair and dark skinned. but some black skin fulani are not as black as they might look, With wealth and less stressed you will watch them transform to brown.
