OK, let use mine as example. I wrote a book for secondary school students. I wrote the manuscript, typed it, gave it to my lecturer to proofread, edited it and formatted it using Corel draw, sent it to printers, I got it approved by Abia state govt, I went for marketing in schools in Abia state, some schools in Anambra also got interested in the book. I even setup a facebook page were i intended marketing the book, i got over 7k fans, got agents in Abj, Lagos, Abia and Enugu to assist in selling it but unfortunately i couldn't push through with that strategy. However i made serious sells in the schools that took my book. The first school i took my book to was the secondary school where I finished from. all science students from ss1 to ss3 bought my book. if I tell you the quantity I sold you will shout. :-)

It's pretty tough getting an interested publisher in Nigeria. I've had this crime fiction manuscript that once came third in an African competition.

I don't want to self publish because I really want it on many Nigeria book shelves. But all these publishers just wouldn't give positive response.

I don't want to self publish because I really want it on many Nigeria book shelves. But all these publishers just wouldn't give positive response.

I will advice you not to waste your time on physical book. Go for digital and foreign audience. Amazon, createspace and draft2digital will do it for you and you will smile to the bank every month and every 60 days. Look for Bros 1234 on nairaland and join the whatsapp group. A guy made $13k in December alone in that group. I don't believe in naija when it's books buying and reading.

You can still do it. Self-publishing doesn't stop your books from being in stores all over the country
