The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has set a bakery and a garri processing factory at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun state.

Coordinator of the NYSC in Osun Emmanuel Attah said corps members interested in learning how to bake bread, cakes and other pastries would be taught by bakers.

In addition, he noted that those in the garri section would teach corps members interested in processing the staple.


“I am happy that the bakery is now running and we have started baking bread from it. This will reduce the cost of feeding and we will be sure that what our children are eating are produced in a hygienic environment. The same thing goes for gari. We eat eba and we said it would be good if we produce what we eat,” Attah said.

“Very soon, we will start selling bread and gari to the people in the towns and even the state. We are not going to limit our production to what we will eat at the camp only. Any corps member who is also interested in learning these things will be taught and this will open them up to opportunities in those areas.”
