Suit? Not for all interviews.

It doesn't boil down to your packaged-appearance but to your working brain and luck.

Must you wear cloth before an interview? No

Must you wear suit before an interview? No

Will it cost you anything to do all of the above? (If you really have them or borrow when you don't have?) NO!!

So why don't you just do it!!??

Absolutely not compulsory, just a matter of presentation. But if it's a more liberal organization, like some multi-nationals, it might actually be a better idea to not wear a suit or anything close to formal wear as it could make you stand out, especially if you have the mental and behavioral capacity to back it up.

When you run your own company you can allow interviewees wear pant and bra and boxers and singlet to the interview.

For the rest of us suits will do just fine.

I went for an interview sometime back. I didn't even tuck in. Was interviewed by the CEO (he lives in the USA), an oil and gas executive as well as a big health care company executive. Flew my shirt but looked sharp though grin.
I got the job and the pay was massive. Depends on company though. Na all those yeye companies wey dey pay 40k per month go dey look wether you wear coat and the length of ya tie. undecided

I got my new job in a multinational company two years ago and it was just a T-shirt and my clean jeans trouser that I wore to the place of the interview. Some organizations don't bloody care what you wear. It's what you have to offer them that matters to them

It's not a must, I think government allows it

I don't think so...

I recall when I went for a job interview for an ICT role in a Maritime firm. I went there with a pair of denim (jean) and a polo shirt, matching them with a snickers.

Others that came were on suit, including the HR Personnel save the Director of the firm grin

To cut the story short, I got the job ahead of others...

To your question, it actually depends on the job and the role applied for! For Public Relations/Communications role, legal, Account, Banking etc, you need a SUIT!

But for ICT, Engineering, technician etc, you don't need a suit.

Re: Must One Wear Suit To A Job Interview? by Nobody: 11:23am On Jan 26, 2018
It is better to be overdressed than undressed. Dressing can be used against you in a case of a par- where there are 2 candidates with the same scores. If you have a suit, wear

Wearing a suit is not compulsory in the sense that no one is going to chuck you out of the premises just because you didn't wear a suit. But it is common sense to appreciate that:

1. You are trying to make a good first impression
2. Other people are trying to make a better first impression than you are
3. Nigerian's tend to appreciate things like wearing a suit to your interview
4. If the culture of the establishment includes thee wearing of suits, you better wear one!
Re: Must One Wear Suit To A Job Interview? by donogaga(m): 11:24am On Jan 26, 2018
It's not a must.

I got a job without wearing suit to the interview. Actually, every other invited candidates wore suit.... I was the only one wearing sleeve and trouser, no tie. I was decent enough and the outfit was fit for purpose.

I don't like suit, however, I had to wear it during my wedding and that was the last time I ever wore suit.

Your outfit to an interview session is important, but what you carry inside is more important.

It is not compulsory, just look smart.
Re: Must One Wear Suit To A Job Interview? by Vado(m): 11:26am On Jan 26, 2018
Not mandatory. HRs know when you are overdoing it by your looks or the manner by which you respond to their questions. They are more interested in your brain power and abilities.

Just look modestly corporate (well groomed shirt & tie) pray for favour and hope the interviewer likes your face.

Re: Must One Wear Suit To A Job Interview? by SpaceAngel: 11:32am On Jan 26, 2018
Not compulsory, but you have to find out the culture of the company before doing so. I've gotten a job with a german company before and I never wore suit. Infact I wore jean with T shirt.
Re: Must One Wear Suit To A Job Interview? by VivaDeAngelo(m): 11:32am On Jan 26, 2018
It depends on the type of job you are interviewing for. For some jobs, you may need to wear a suit. For some, a plain trousers and corporate shirt will suffice but you must wear a tie. For some, you may wish to wear the two and disregard the latter. For some, you may decide to wear Agbada who cares...... Or your chieftaincy regalia grin
