Absolutely not compulsory, just a matter of presentation. But if it's a more liberal organization, like some multi-nationals, it might actually be a better idea to not wear a suit or anything close to formal wear as it could make you stand out, especially if you have the mental and behavioral capacity to back it up.
Just curious...which multinational will require you NOT to wear a suit for an employment interview, even if they dress down during field operations?
