Brief History of Inen

The history of Inen Ekeffe village is as old as that of Inen (Inen group of villages not Inen clan). The village was among the four villages that made up the old nto udoakpan village(one of the villages that made up the then inen clan) that was splitted into four villages namely : Inen okuruk , Etok Inen , inen Ekeffe and inen nto udoakpan i.e. Ikot owuk by the then county councilor of the former Abak LGA , Obong Brownson Attai Inam of blessed memory in 1940 , who later became the village head of the then nto udoakpan village and a defacto clan head of inen. Named after a popular market in the area, Ekeffe market, the village had chief udo Ekpe as its first head, succeeded by chief Frank Akpan Ekerete Ita. Ekerete was succeeded by chief Francis James whose tenure saw the establishment of the only secondary school in the village (community secondary school , Inen Ekeffe) in 1982 passed on in 1992 and chief Sunday Frank Akpan Ekerete Ita succeeded and became the head of the village till date.
It has Idung Akpan Imowo , Idung Ita and Idung Akpaita as major extended families.
