Youth leaders of major political parties in Imo State were among thousands of youth leaders who converged in Owerri the Imo State capital for a well organized Imo Youths Political Summit tagged; 'COLLECTIVE RESOLUTION'.
At the well attended event, all recognized and formidable youth groups in the State made presentations on why the younger generation of Imo politicians should be allowed to stake their claim at the governorship of the State. After much deliberations, it was unanimously agreed that the most viable youthful candidate at the moment, who has shown the readiness to move Imo State to the next level is Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.
According to Mr Osinachi who stood in for the PDP youth wing in the State in his capacity as the President of the Imo State PDP Youth For Change, said he would have wished that the PDP in the State has shown any readiness to open its doors to the youths to vie for governorship, but all indications point towards the same direction of using recycled leaders, while the youths are treated like undervalued cannon fodders. In his words; "I am a committed member of the PDP and will remain so, but in the case of this governorship race come 2019, PDP will not have a governorship candidate as long as majority of the youths are concerned. We will all vote for Ugwumba Uche Nwosu for governor and vote other youthful candidates for other other elective positions, across Party lines."

The APGA representative at the summit also toed the same line as his PDP counterpart, while the coordinator of the APC Youth Front affirmed that the position to support a younger candidate for the governorship seat is a Party policy, as the governor in his capacity as the leader of the Party in the State had made such proposal to the Party and the Party leadership across all levels have adopted the position. According to him; ”The APC believes in internal democracy and every member of the Party will be given a chance to choose their choice governorship candidate through the Party delegates, but I, and all members of the APC Youth Front shall work assiduously for the emergence of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as our Party's governorship candidate in the first instance, and the winner of the 2019 governorship election."
