Unilag is a brand while Ebonyi State Uni has no swag from the beginning. So changing it wont affect anything.

Secondly, Abiola died almost 20 years ago and GEJ only chose to immortalise him in the 5th year of his 6 year tenure. While Ekwueme died not up to three months ago. Immortalizing him makes better sense this way.

What is this OP saying? You want to compare University of Lagos, a first generation federal university to a fourth generation Federal university in Ebonyi. For your info, the students of Unilag started the protest in 2012, which I was part of them. If the students of this school aren't happy with the name, they should go to the street and protest.

Unilag as a name is a brand, MAULAG is simply an ugly acronym

on the other hand, Alex Ekweme is a nice name, sounds "porche" and you will be surprise the name would make it see more patronage.

As a leader you have to exhibit general knowledge intelligence, GEJ lacks that. University of Lagos have carved a name for itself spanning over several years with inducted graduates, doctors and professors.

If you think deeply about it, this is actually a huge indictment on GEJ and a plus for the current president. You have to evaluate a lot of factors before arriving at a decision. Obviously there is a reason why UNN was not the choice. GEJ goofed big time so let's just give it a rest.

When the late Ondo State Governor named then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti as Obafemi Awolowo University in the early 80s, it was changed by then Military Governor of Ondo State under the erstwhile Buhari-Idiagbon led military administration to Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti
