As much as u have a good point, I'm certain there are a million ways to pass your message across without been so uncouth. I'm really also not a fan of Buhari, and God-willing by 2019 he must GO!! but It's just wrong how comfortable and easy u find it to insult a man Old enough to be your Grand dad, if not for anything at least for the sake of his age and a chance to prove you're cultured.

And this is a blatant waste of resources, there're plenty of civilized ways to re-purpose or dispose these luxury cars that can generate revenue to be used for the betterment and development of the country.

Buhary deserves no respect. Sorry! My old man is aged enough to be his uncle.

What happened to selling the cars to generate revenue?

So that those that brought them in in the first place can buy them back? Nay. This is purposeful leadership. Be prepared to pay your taxes or don't import. Simple

You call that mad man a president,a president that signed martial law, only sadist and failures enjoy news like these, the philipines is one of the poorest country on earth, couldnt the mad president had sold the cars and used the proceeds for other ventures that would benefit the poor masses over there,a country that relies heavily on aid reliefs from other nations, the problem with the president is his messiach complex,he thinks he knows it all like "you know who".

Some people said he should auction those cars. Who are those people that will buy those cars? Most of them are drug kingpins and men that are into shady deals. Before Duterte became the President, the Philipines have been milked by corrupt politicians and drug lords. Respect his decision, he knows more about his country than we do.

This is a show of badness in high places. He is envious and lack understanding.
Auctioning the cars would have been a better way of punishing the importers while generating revenue for the nation.
He wasted government resources, individuals resources and will waste more for the disposal of the left over while making more enemies for himself and his government.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte had bulldozers destroy $1.2 million worth of smuggled cars at the Bureau of Customs, days after promising to dispose of vehicles brought into the Southeast Asian country illegally.

Some of the cars were luxury models, valued as high as $115,000. Yet, it took just minutes for them to be reduced to nothing more than scrap metal.

He was on hand to watch Jaguars, BMWs,Corvette Stingray Lexus and SUVs be crushed and He said “Give it to the buyer of steel". “They cannot have cars like that. But they can get something, make toys out of it.”

Last year alone, the Bureau of Customs seized $2.93 million worth of smuggled cars, part of a greater $866 million in seized goods according to government data.

The finance minister said “It does not pay to evade taxes in the Philippines so might as well stop trying, because you will never succeed", just as 20 vehicles were about to be destroyed at a Manila port. Another 10 were bulldozed in ports in the cities of Davao and Cebu.

Vehicle smuggling is a big problem in the Philippines where car taxes can go as high as 50 percent for cars valued over approximately $77,000.

Normally, seized smuggled vehicles are impounded and then auctioned with the government taking the proceeds. He said 'I will pay for them, no problem,' Duterte said.

President Duterte, known for his bloody war on drugs and disdain for criminals, has promised to usher in a 'golden age of infrastructure' over six years, worth $180 billion. He has launched a comprehensive tax reform programme to help fund it.

Is the Philippines President's actions possible in Nigeria?
