In the recent times, we have seen hackers targeting Google’s products and services to perform evil things. Last month, the popular Google Chrome extension which is known as Archive Poster was reportedly found misbehaving and had turned into an in-browser cryptocurrency miner.

After that, the security researchers have discovered four more malicious extensions on the Google Chrome browser. So, it goes without saying that even Google’s own products and service are vulnerable to security risks.

However, it looks like the search giant Google is trying their best to fight these problems. You will be shocked to know that last year the search giant Google paid out nearly $3 million to security researchers as a reward for finding the vulnerability in different Google’s products and services.

Jan Keller, a member of Google’s vulnerability reward program said in a blog post “We awarded researchers more than $1 million for vulnerabilities they found and reported in Google products, and a similar amount for Android as well. Combined with Chrome awards, we awarded nearly $3 million to researchers for their reports”

“We also awarded $125,000 to over 50 security researchers from all around the world through our Vulnerability Research Grants Program and $50,000 to the hard-working folks who improve the security of open-source software as part of our Patch Rewards Program”

Well, the largest single reward of $112,500 went to independent researcher Guang Gong for finding an exploit chain on Pixel phones. So, what do you think about this? Share your views in the comment box below.
