Glo Emerges Nigerian Brand Of The Year by Nkemakonam62: 4:16am On Feb 19, 2018
National telecommunications operator, Globacom, has been declared the Nigerian Brand of the Year. The company won the award at the Nigerian Television Authority – Integrity and Service Programme (NTA-ISP) Award held at the Aso Villa, in Abuja on Tuesday night. The organisers said at the event, which was attended by several high profile guests, that Globacom was chosen as Brand of the Year for its pioneering role in the telecoms industry, describing it as the “African Brand with Global Aspirations”. Globacom, they explained, was a modern telecoms network offering unique and advanced products and services as well as the most convenient and competitive data and voice price plans. The organizers also recalled that Globacom had deepened internet penetration in Nigeria through its nationwide fibre optic cable, Glo 1 submarine cable and the 4G LTE services which the operator had extended to 33 locations across the country. Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who represented the Senate President at the event, presented the Globacom award to Mr. Mansur Opakunle, a senior officer in the Public Sector Department of the company. Other Globacom officials at the event included Mrs. Justina Abdulateef of Public Sector and Mr. Sola Mogaji of the Marketing Communications Department. In its response, Globacom stated that the secret of its growth was resilience, commitment to its vision to be the best and its massive investment in telecoms infrastructure. Globacom was the only private sector player that was decorated at the event. The event was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, and the governors of Kano, Bauchi, Imo, Nassarawa and Adamawa States, amongst other personalities.

With the widespread negative reviews on their data services I don't think they merit such award. But just maybe other factors which we don't know were considered

I am sure this award does not take their service delivery into account. Brand of the year with poorest network of the year.

What was/were the criterion/criteria for the selection?

This useless network that I was canvassing for barely two months ago, that they had improved + the affordability of their data.... Then they not only reduced the data allowances, their network has become such a mess, when chatting on WhatsApp, u say sth funny to someone and u won't get a reply for 12mins, then all of a sudden when u don forget say u been de chat, u'll get a notification n u see

Hahahahahahahahahahahhahaha

And u'd be like wetin de make dis guy laugh? Until u open d chat n see that u were actually chatting n being funny before Glo network went off like NEPA light.
