It was 16 years old Lawal Abayomi that stole the show at Soccer Temple, Agege, as MFM FC defeated AS Real Bamako of Mali to qualify for the next round of the CAF Champions League.

Abayomi who came in as a substitute in the 55th minutes of the game was pivotal to his team’s victory as he gave good account of himself as he kept on tormenting the rocky defense line of the Mali club side with his tricky and dazzling moves in his debut at home.

In the 88th minutes, the 16 year old winger provided a fine run after a run past his two opponents to deliver a cross for Chijioke Akuneto to score the lone goal of the match.

Speaking to journalist after the match, the young star praised his coach Fidelis Ilechukwu for the confidence reposed in him and promise to keep working hard in order to improve on his game.

MFM Fc coach, Fidelis Illechukwu speaking on the prospect of the young winger, said he has a promising future as he never doubted his ability and that of other players stressing that he might become the next big name of the club in years to come.
