A newly built shrine house in Awka, Anambra State has been designed without an air conditioner, to suit the taste of the idle that will occupy it. Note that it is common in Awka to see shrine houses in the middle of residential areas.
This particular shrine house is located close to a major hospital in the state. Stories have it that while the shrine house was being constructed, the worshipers of the shrine opted to put an air conditioner in the shrine to ensure a cozy environment for the god that will occupy the building. But the god sent a message across to worshipers that there was no need for an air conditional. The deity, it was gathered, preferred to stay in a place without air condition so the building just has windows and doors.
