Where are the stats? The rule still stands. Rice comes in through the seaport ( legitimate route ) It's the illegitimate means like through the border that its banned. This is a boost for importers with huge financial prowess to import containers of the commodity but disfavors the tiny importers of few bags who try to smuggle it through the border. Nearly, if not half of the rice in the market are of course locally produced but well processed,packaged and branded. However, most of these integrated rice milling plant are located in the Northern part of the country where rice is mostly grown.
