SPD is now stronger than PDP ever was. With Falae (from SW) as National chairman and other Southerners and the North duly represented, SPD will pull more votes than a Secondus (Wike's installed stooge) led party in South West which happens to be the power block and battle ground for 2019.

It's the Igbos I pity, they openly supported Wike and Fayose in killing PDP. Now we'll see the magic that will make Igbos President or VP.

Top founding leaders of opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday in Abuja formally defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to serve as a third force in Nigeria's political space and provide more alternatives to Nigerians in the 2019 general election.

Professor Jerry Gana, Professor Tunde Adeniran, Professor Rufai Alkali, Dr. Mohammed Junaid, Shehu Gabam and other top political forces in the former ruling party said their defection is meant to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.

The new SDP remains under the leadership of former Secretary to the Federal Government, Chief Olu Falae while other leaders were infused into the new National Working Committee of the SDP which includes PDP decampees.

The party says it is a party for restructuring. Prof. Jerry Gana later announced the SDP NWC as follows:

Personally, I do not think that either Osibanjo nor Duke would have outperformed Buhari were they put under the same circumstances.

Duke governed Cross Rivers for eight years, is (was) Cross Rivers state the best state in Nigeria? Even if the favoured position is that he did well, he couldn't be there longer than eight years. Now the big question is, how would his legacies be sustained and improved on? Same applies when both men govern Nigeria and do well. Only Lagos state, I dare say understands this, from Tinubu to Fashola and now Ambode, each doing more to consolidate the foundation that has been laid.

Besides, you failed to look at the all important North-South and Muslim-Christian dichotomy in Nigeria in your pairing.

Would they not require votes from the North to win? The immediate past president is from the South-South, where does this leave the Igbos?

Nigeria is a complex country. Things can't work that way. Our democracy is still fledgling. Also, so much clout is needed to govern the Nigeria of today, with all the super-rich former retired military general and never-die political juggernauts.

Only a few individuals like President Buhari has the clout that matches these 'individual institutions'. We all saw how President Jonathan presided over Nigeria, even with the best of intentions.

For me, the family and by extension the society is where the real problems lie. We must fix / restore value systems because after all said and done, anyone who becomes president is Nigerian and comes from or would be influenced by the Nigerian society. We need to build a society that gives us the kind of leaders we desire. Good leaders don't fall from the blues, they are nurtured and there can't be a better place to nurture them than in our families and communities.

There is also the problems of mass illiteracy, poverty etc. My brother, it's a complex situation.

These old bangers are still jumping from on party to other. why can't they just give themselves rest of mind and enjoy the remaining years they got left
