Op
This is my only advice for you cool

There is no better advice than this bro..

Was in the same shoe with op some months back, although a different course. But after studying and understanding what controls the present Nigerian system and how it's been controlled, I mustered up all the courage I needed and moved on..

Am currently serving now and I can authoritatively say that by his grace, the future is bright.

I don't know your current age now (@op) , but to corroborate the sage words in that picture, just simply invest wisely..

Read the business section of this forum more often, and be open to new business ideas and opportunities.

Wishing you success and growth in your future endeavours.

Op forget that 2.2 you are talking about. In the banking sector and some industry what count is your experience not your grade. Even 2.1 find it hard to secure a job

Hello Mr. My hope for you is that you commit these thoughts to heart grin.
Rounded off service in 2012, did a menial job(wait and get photography across the length and breadth of Festac) while job hunting.

At a point in time when my photography business seem to be nose diving,I had to pickup a teaching job on a 25000 Naira salary scale, but guess what? It was an experience that helped foster my present career.

Ended up loving the teaching profession, after closely working with my former employer(baba was so much of a motivator, that my salary would always multiplied each month(saved a whooping 15000 each month while surviving on 10000) call it blessed employer ,blessed money if you like.

Months past after which I picked up an offer with some of the big schools around, earning 6 digits but happiness just seem to elude me(story for another day).

A colleague(not so close though) of mine in time past, informed me about an opening in the middle east,of which I applied.

Yes I was offered the job(with zero attention to 2.2) ,started the processing for visa and all but my application was denied at some point by their ministry of education, owing to the fact that I had a B.Sc in MATH with no teaching certificate to backup my application.

Fasted and prayed for a week after the denial, of which an approval came in a week after.

Ticket, visa, accommodation and all came in courtesy of my employer.

Worked for a year and 3 months, erected my little 3 bed room flat + a 2 bedroom self contain attached.

At the moment, I feel the need to train and retrain most of our teachers on the needed skills of learning for a 21st century teacher.
Next stop shop is a P.G.C.E (quite expensive though, but with God...you sure know the rest).

You'd be fine sir.

Since I av been reading comments I was confused cox no one is encouraging him at all. 2.2 shey na 2nd class lower? Why is everybody condemning the result and telling op to go learn a trade?
I had a 2.2(3.2) GP, did my maters and ICAN, as a young lady I can say I am successful for my age and level. So op. Just upgrade urself u will b OK.

If only you know how many Ist class and 2.1graduates that are jobless. ..your mindset will reset immediately .

Some have ist class and 2.1 and even gone to UK, Sweden, Germany and other western countries to get their Masters degree and yet no work.....but the truth is that there is job ..i mean good jobs if you are within the right mix...grow your connections.

My advice is you pray for Gods favour and grace.
That is very important. Keep applying. If grace locate you, you will get a good job with your 2.2.

Then try and beef up with CV with some relevant certifications that are related to your discipline.

Most of the Managers, SMs, Directors and other executives in most big company today have 2.2....

Most often, 2.1 is empahasized in during your first job, after that experience and your proficiency on the job will be your selling point.

It is all about who you know...

All the best.

Look at this one. Oboy I Be Lower Credit poly graduate. In fact I even escape pass bro. but I have two 2.1 graduates working for me today among my staff. I finished my nysc in 2015. I went straight to self employed and today I have employees working for me. You should be concern on how to package your life and not what is written on your certificate.

It depends on how you spent your time on campus bro. I became bornagain and God addict in 200 level after 3 carry overs. I was victimised and eventually graduated with 2.2.

God promise me I am a first class candidate with that mindset and God's grace, every job I applied I got.

I work at the most popular social media company today.

Congratulations on completing your BSc (Mech Eng).
Don't be sad. We have people with even pass who have and still ruling the world. We have people who did not even go to school or did not complete their undergrad but they are successful people in our societies. Trust me, you are not a failure. As explained by some nairalanders who already responded:
-You can learn some skills and prepare yourself towards becoming an entrepreneur. Make sure your entrepreneurship ambition is focused on what you love doing or
-You can do professional courses and get some certifications. If you do well in this, it may give some advantages when it comes to hiring. or
- You may want to go for further studies (MS) especially abroad, this will help to augment your present status
Best of luck br.

LETTER TO NIGERIAN YOUTH!

Throw Away That Degree Otherwise You Will Die Poor

Most of the educated people in Nigeria are poor. Majority of the educated earn less than N55,000 for a salary before tax and other deductions. When the deductions are put into consideration, the net salary comes to around N50,000. The net salary then suffers from loan deductions of up to N15,000 leaving the salary at around N35,000. The landlord then demands for his N15,000 and monthly shopping takes away N10,000 leaving one with a N10,000. The bus will demand for N300 going to and from work and relatives get another N2,500. The whole salary is gone and borrowed money starts operating. The borrowed money includes short loans and salary advances.

The difference between poverty and prosperity is property. A prosperous person has property to his name while a poverty stricken person has no property to show. Using this understanding, therefore, most of the degree holders are poverty stricken, borrowing money to buy chicken and chips, pizza, and a car.

The biggest excuse for getting paid such low amounts of money and having to sit and work for another person for 30 days is THE DEGREE that one possesses and that’s all. This has made most of the degree holders very poor to poverty stricken and will die that way most likely. A degree holder does not know how to generate money unless that money is generated for the employer. A degree holder is so dependent on the salary that he can do anything to get a job but will not think of starting a business of his own to employ others.

Interesting Facts!

1. A degree holder is not prepared to sell chips but is very happy to work for hungry lion (companies).

2. A degree holder is not prepared to sell popcorn in the street but is very happy to work for Dangote outlet in the city and mum river-sides.

3. A degree holder is not prepared to sell second hand clothes but is very happy to be employed by Zenith Bank which the business of selling stocks and looking for customers in a scorching Sun.

4. A degree holder is not prepared to make N150,000 monthly doing his own business but is very happy to work at the till in a bank getting paid N25,000.

5. A degree holder is not prepared to start a company and grow it in two to three years but will spend three years searching for a job.

6. A degree holder is not prepared to sell food to students but will be happy to be reporting to a boss with no qualifications as Office Assistant as long as he is paid N30,000 for a salary.

7. A degree holder is so eager to get out of this country and work in another country than spend time to develop his own country.

8. A degree holder staying in a foreign land (Nigerian) is very keen to condemn Nigeria but never contributing to the development of this country.

9. A Nigerian degree holder would rather sweep the streets of London or USA than start a business to make money in her father land – others work in people’s homes doing some work (cleaners).

10. A degree holder in Nigeria will watch porn on his laptop but never sit to write a book using the same laptop to sell and make money.

11. A degree holder will blame the government for lack of jobs even after he was on government bursary for him to have his degree.

12. Nigeria is blessed with young people who have master’s degree and others are doctors in different technical fields such as IT and Engineering but all of them have failed to create a cartoon character or develop a movie from the same instead very happy to buy Tom and Jerry for their children thereby promoting American and UK.

A school I visit, there is a man that is of very humble background. He does not speak English but sells Coke, Fanta and Sprite at N80 each making a profit of N10 on each drink. He also sells chips at N50 making a profit of N17 on each portion. Not less than 80 students buy chips and a drink every single day. This means he makes a profit of N27 for a drink and chips and a total profit of N10 on each drink. He also sells chips at N50 making a profit of N17 on each portion. Not less than 80 students buy chips and a drink every single day. This means he makes a profit of N27 for a drink and chips and a total profit of N2,160 per day…every single day. In ten days he makes a profit of N21,600 in twenty days N43,200 and in thirty days N64,800.

The degree holder working in a bank at the till gets a salary of N45,000 every month.

Why are the degree holders poor?

Because they have decided to pride themselves in a degree and failed to think better than a man who does not have even a certificate to his name.

Degree holders spend their time liking articles on linkedIn and facebook but never have any care in the world to implement what they like. Poverty starts from the mind, a mind that just likes things but never to implement those things.

If you want to progress, keep that degree and start thinking better than someone without a degree. There's no white collar Job anywhere bro!

Be prepared to get your hands dirty and work like an ox for your business. Your hard work will pay off.

Think Success!!! Think Entrepreneurship!!!

Yours Sincerely.....

Coalition Of Social Entrepreneurs...
fight your way to that financial freedom you seek.

Don't mind this people your result is OK, but u cannot rely solely on your result anymore this days my advice is add a professional certification to that result to boost your chances in the job market, take it from an HR today it's not about your CV any longer but what u can do.

So please develop yourself go for various professional certification courses that are in line with your discipline and in no time you will land your dream job

The journey has just began Lad and the future is bright don't get depressed for no reason instead get motivated to work hard

1. Learn skills like auto repairs, refrigeration and HVAC installation, heavy duty power plant maintenance and repairs, welding building construction, piping, and instrumentationetc. Don't underestimate these skills. And try to get a trade test cert in them.

2. Proceed to get certified in HSE, project management, NSE and COREN certifications.

3. Also get to do an MBA and/or MSC.
4. Trust in God and don't underestimate men and women you meet anywhere.
5. Sell yourself your skills your vision to people anywhere and anytime you're given that opportunity

The big fish will start hunting you after these. Trust me!

First class students sef neva see 100k job whereas hustler dey see correct money all you need is good connect with all these online hustle most expecially cryptocurrency which is the one most people know now. Baba 2:2 na make sense grade oo just sabi say u need to hustle.

I feel ur pain but to be honest I don't feel sorry for u for how u feel as doing this I feel like am further deceiving from u the truth.
To give u some light:
--first I want to ask u the oyinbo guys tgat created microsoft, Apple, Facebook or Snapchat, did they they graduate from college but were/are so successful in life despite not graduating from university?

possible answers to these questions is that the guys that started these great companies saw a need for a product in their society and they saw the market/economic potential of satisfying those needs by creating a product/s that the served the public and then monetized their service.

---the special thing about these people is that they looked inward in themselves to create opportunities for themselves. So please stop waiting for opportunities from companies that will frustrate with no nos and create ur own opportunities.

--with the internet and social media today, no employer should make shakara for u if understand social media like Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook and know how to use these platforms to create opportunities for urself.

--sites like: upwork.com, fiverr.com and most of the photo sharing site are also worth looking into to know how u can create opportunities from them.

Please don't feel hopeless because of ur 2.1 as that doesn't define how intelligent u are or who u can be if u make the right moves in life.
Turning to crime is never a good option. Goodluck!

Acquire more skills, get active on social media, include your skills and degree in your bio/profile,meet people, be nice to them, answer strangers questions intelligently, spell things correctly even if it's an informal writing, dress like a decent person, etc. These little little things are the things that Matter most. Not just having a good result.
