It was part of the negotiation....Boko brings back the girls...while no one makes a move.

When America was exchanging three Taliban for Bowe Berghdal, and when Israel was exchanging 10 hezbollah fighters for two dead soldiers....they could have used weapons to attack and destroy the place where the millitants were gathered to recieve their boys...but no they did not.

It is/looks insane at first...until you look at it from the point of view that the residents too were rejoicing that their daughters and relatives were coming back home.

Also, the reason why no soldiers is simple....because the minute Boko saw any soldiers...the deal would have been off. And if the soldiers had tried to make a move...the girls would have died in their numbers, to say nothing of innocent civilians in the resulting cross fire.

Plus, Boko still has a lot of captives. If their boys had been arrested...or harmed, all deals are off...and that could mean horror for any Boko captive, especially the remaining Chibok ladies., and a host of others. What's to stop Boko from reprisal killings, or even more bimbings of innocents in revenge attacks. Boko are not rational beings at all.
