While We Warred by Crazeepoet(m): 4:21am On Apr 01, 2018
Blood prints of millions
Smiling On the walls
Tear flows of the orphaned and widowed
Watching life ripped from friends and fiends
while we warred
hearts broken by bullets
and souls condemned by daggers
from the devils stab,
that drain sanity from our being
but while we warred
these things did not stop us
from dreaming about the place we should be
so we held arms on one hand
and our dreams on the other
arms for our lives
then dreams for our hopes
And we journey with an unknown hope
That life will not sink us totally
If we keep moving towards the light
That will shine on us one day
That war will not tear us down
If we embrace ourselves
And forgive our trespasses
Where our souls hurt from grudges
For while we warred
We plunder out hearts
And the soul of country

Nigeria!
We have meandered through hard times
And why do we estranged us?
Sons turn servants
we watch with no clue
that tomorrow has been petrified
before it is hatched
our thoughts in a rowdy crescendo of noise
Applauding our mass confusion.
Green white Green
that was the dream
but now we barely see
Because the dreams suffocate withering under our watchful gaze
now we like tame demons
domestic monsters
aimlessly wandering
hoping to escape the doom
brewed in our factories .
The light dims
From a distant it no more beams
and the call for change
now looking more like whispers
and am scripting on thorn scrolls
and on the punctured hearts of our demise heroes who'd gained independence from this theater of shame
but how can we find respite on the tomb of our ancestors
when they squeak and squeal
at the stench of our attrocities
this odious of they and we
our souls weary
tired of countless romance with nightmares
and ceaseless apparition of promises that vanish before fruitition
and the joys of independence
more seemingly a transient delusion
We are soaked in confusion

But we will feast on in style
And add sweetness to this bitter sourness
Till this bleak wars give way to peace
And this hope breeds in our soul
That you will hold my hands
Without a frown
Not on compulsion
I will take your hands
And walk behind the lines of enmity
That has long besieged us
And a handshake will no more betray us
Blood will no more flow from our pipes
Corpses will no more be stored up in our barns
And bombs will no more blow our hopes
In shatters and batters
our dreams shall not fade before our eyes
Because my dream and yours
Shall be fused like siamese
Inseparable!
And our ambitions shall be incurable
Till the day we have painted in green and whites
The true colours of Nigeria
